Tach delay for a few seconds after starting the car.

I noticed the other day, when I started my car after a warm restart, the tach delayed for a few seconds. The battery is orìginal, but I always keep it on a trickle charger when I'm not driving it. Car is garaged kept so I assume the grounds are good.

Any ideas?

So, an old battery would cause this? Thanks.

Old batteries in these cars cause all sorts of strange electrical symptoms.

Okay, thanks. Funny thing is, I don't remember it doing that before, but I don't usually look straight at the tach when I'm starting the car like I did that time.

Is everything else working fine and does it operate normally afterwards? I thought you had some other issues as well but i think i mixed up posts in my head.

Yes, everything else works fine. The tach works normally and no other issues. It just freaked me out because I never actually noticed it before. Stays on the battery tender when parked. Original Delco battery.

I wouldn't worry about it if that's the only thing you've noticed, could be normal and you just never noticed. If other strange stuff starts happening look at the battery possibility

Well I tried it a few times, there is a delay but its not much. If you hadn't mentioned it I wouldn't have noticed.

I thought the tach, speedo, and 4 packs did a full test sweep before they started? Or do you mean after that?

The speedo and tach don't, as the engine starts the gauges on the console sweep.
