Don't know if I could give up the Heel & Toe double Clutch downshifts for this new A10 Tech marvel. I test drove a 2SS with the A8 and it kicks you in the butt when it shifts in Track mode! But it had a delay when downshifting, would not be good for Autocross or Road-racing. The few tests of the ZL1 showed very little delay on the downshifts. I doubt you will find a ZL1 any dealer will let you Spank! Besides the break-in period is 1500 miles, I'm not buying a ZL1 used for demo rides!

Wonder if they will put the 10 speed in a Z/28?

No one thought it would happen for the Z06...

I'm still up in the air, i'm more of a die hard Manual guy but it's tough to argue the benefits this auto would provide in a high HP car like the ZL1. I imagine there will be a significant difference in 1/4 mile times between the Auto and Manual, add that to the fuel efficiency it provides and consistency in launches I might seriously consider becoming a paddle shifter. I'd have to come into some money first because it's going to be out of my price range regardless... for now. But I would LOVE to own one

I can't imagine how this could be legal and it's a good case for manual throttle linkage.
^^^This just sealed my decision on a new Silverado. I have the same issue with my new Colorado and was going to get rid of it for a full size truck, but I heard the problem exists there as well. Total BS the way the 6 speed hunts for gears when downshifting. In heavy stop and go traffic on my daily Houston commute it's downright dangerous. The 17's have the 8 speed so I'll wait and see on that.

I haven't driven the Silverado or Colorado 6 speed, but in the RAM 1500 I have it is an eight speed. It's not super fast when you mash it, but for a truck it puts it in the right gear good enough to get where you are going. That sounds really dangerous especially in heavy traffic if it's that slow in finding gears. Also the fuel economy is much better on the 8 speeds of course. If that matters to ya.

Not certain there's ever been an auto option as of late for the Z28...

Nothing confirmed for Z06 for 2017 for the 10 speed yet... Only 8spd avail

Only confirmations from GM for the 10 were the ZL1 exclusive for full model 17 and "LATE" availability for the Escalades for 2017...

In 2018 tho the floodgates will be opened with the 10...

Yeah, there is a huge thread on it in the Colorado forums. I've found that when I put the truck in Tow/Haul mode it drives just fine. GM has these things tuned for gas mileage and it's crazy dangerous in stop and go traffic. When you do a quick slow down and then try to accelerate it starts hunting for gears until finally downshifting.

I just thought since the Z06 broke the mold that maybe the Z/28 would as well. Guess we will see about that in 2018 or tail end of 17.

Sounds like the availability of the auto will be spotty to start with, good news for those of us who drive sticks. Straight to the front of the line...

Well, with Active Rev Match, you don't really have to Heel/Toe anymore either.

My A8 does just fine, actually, road racing for what I do with it.. and I didn't have any issues with it down/up shifting on me and was perfectly happy with it. The only thing I don't like is PSM exit timer is too short for times when you can't pass and you're held up by slower drivers.

A good auto trans is always fun and especially in a car like this.
For those drag and high horse power highway pulls -auto's are better.

This car in a manual will be a handful and fun!

I still haven't figured out how to look at myself in the mirror for owning an automatic.
