Muffler delete on a v8 = Ricer? What? That's one of the stupidest things i've heard.

Agreed

Along with paying $1400 for an axle back, which is why they go hand and hand I guess.

Can't speak for the LT1, but I know with my 5th Gen SS the muffler delete was amazing. Best sounding exhaust I've heard on any of the cars for a stock setup. I was still getting compliments on it up until I sold it.

Absolutely correct! Drop unnecessary weight and put in minimal weight with a better sound (in most instances).

I've heard Flowmaster Outlaw, MBRP, and Magnaflow Race series, in person, and they all sound pretty good... and those are all basically overpriced muffler deletes! So if you paid for either of those instead of just getting a shop's muffler delete, then yes, that is pretty stupid.

For an axleback that is NPP compatible, and especially one that is drone free, you will get price gouged unfortunately, that's inevitable as the Camaro tries to be upmarket for the 6th gen, looking to enter the sports car market and leave the one-trick-pony label behind.
Luckily i got mine free
But for those on a budget, a basic muffler delete is a great idea that still sounds good... until cats start coming off, then it just sounds like a tractor or swarm of bee's... nasty with no tone.

Ear plugs will work, but on a car like mine with a build comparable to the OP's in that mine only has Kooks' small AB mufflers and not straight pipes, all I have to do is downshift to get above 1800-2200 and Voilā, no drone

You guys revived a 4-year old thread... I like the NPP because you can turn it up or down when you want.

Does a muffler delete sound better with the secondary cats intact or with them removed?

Zombie thread, but ops car looks like either a turbo 4 or a V6. That 4 just does not sound good without a muffler or two.

When I was younger and dumber, in my 2000 Z/28, I went to an SLP Loudmouth 2 exhaust (which, hindsight, sounded like absolute trash). Then, I cammed it, and decided to go with long tubes going to an X-pipe, and...that was it. It dumped right beneath the seats.

Of course I thought it was awesome at the time, but the volume and drone was abysmal. I'll never do that again.

I love the new burps when decelerating and throbbing idling noise when its sitting still. I even love the new louder rumble when it starts up. BUT I honestly cant stand anything higher than 3500-4000 RPMS, Its just constant fast low frequency drone. I felt my brain coming out of my ears everytime I accelerated above those rpms. So I'm basically shifting earlier than I should just to avoid the droning.

I don't know how else to describe it. Its a very harsh low frequency noise.

If your going to replace your axel back - get one with a muffler!
I did the AWE track axle back muffler delete and have very, very little drone. Now adding headers would be a no go.
