Tire suggestions to get my ZL1 to hook

I have a 2020 ZL1 1LE with a Katech stage 5 build making 861 rwhp and I can blow the tires off at 100 mph. Running Pilot 4s's right now. Need a streetable tire, thinking Forgestar F14 17" wheels so they look somewhat similar to the factory front wheels. Maybe 10.5 or 11" wide. Certainly open to wheel suggestions as well!

Some have said the Nitto 555's are the way to go. Other high power builds have told me they've tried em and they aren't sufficient.

Any suggestions please? Need sidewall flex yet still want handling in the corners.

I have F14's 19x12 with 325 Toyo R888R's and they hold my 700+whp pretty well.

They are pretty noisy for a daily driver though and you won't get a bunch of miles out of them.

Those look great! I wish forgestar made a 17x12 or 17x11 so I could ensure it has that poke yet having a taller sidewall for flex during launch. I'll look at those Toyo's.

Thanks!

Just FYI, those suckers grip, but they're loud, I mean monster truck or tractor trailer LOUD at speeds above 45-50 mph. Fine if you don't want to daily drive the car though, I'm sure the roar from your 860 rwhp engine at WOT will overpower them

At 735 rwhp your not far away from me and your correct, I'm running catless 2" American Racing headers with 3" catless back to stock muffler, that combined with the max effort CAM means the only thing I hear when I'm driving are the notes from the exhaust. It is not a daily driver, so I'm will to give up on some creature comforts for functionality.

What are you running Arpad?

I'm on PS4S tires now, got a great deal on a 1LE wheel+PS4S tire combo. Yes, they're no good for launches in 1st or even 2nd, but I'm not a racer and at least I don't have to worry about sudden weather changes or being caught in the occasional downpour.

Once these wear out, I'll try Nitto 555R2's in the rear.

I just picked up my car a week ago so roads here in PA are very cold, I skate all over the place with the 4s's at all speeds/gears. Here's to hoping it gets better in the spring with warmer roads

Cold weather is borderline unsafe at big power. If it’s under 60 degrees out I generally will not give it the beans at all as I can literally break the tires loose at any time or any speed. But the scary part is thinking you have traction then having it break loose on an up shift at near or over triple digit speed. It’s just not worth it so I drive like granny until I know weather and traction are both favorable.

Thanks for the note and I hear ya, just needed to get some time behind the wheel being I just picked her up, she'll be going under the cover very soon, in-fact this weekend.

I’m with you! The moment snow or salt hits the roads she goes away for the winter. But nothing wrong with sneaking in some nice fall drives until then, even if the temps are a bit cool.

Josh is right, as always. Thought this was somewhat obvious, but my rule with these tires is no WOT under 65 degrees in any gear, period (and I have 100-200 less hp than you guys). The car is still plenty fun driven "normally", heh, and come good weather, I let it show some fangs.

A 555r2 will help a ton...still not going to be able to dead hook from lower rolls with that kind of power in cooler weather but I wouldn't be surprised if you could roll into from 50 ish and hook. The 17" is a good call with a 305/45/17. You need more sidewall. Imo the 555r2's are the best tire out there that offer the least amount of compromise.

Pros- Quiet, handle relatively well, no rear end wag at high speed, and night/day better traction vs any high performance street tire without giving up much tread life.

Cons- Not going to handle like a Super Car tire for high speed cornering but they still handle great for street use.

I tried to roll into it the other day in the mid 40s…the sunshine was making me feel like it was warmer than it was. But even on my drag pack, at the top of 5th gear it started getting loose and I began to question what the heck I was thinking.

Happy Thanksgiving gents. Keep these things on the pavement!

There's no doubt the cold has a ton to do with it, even stock the 4s's in good condition didn't hook great, as they are not really meant for that. I'm looking for suggestions for spring so I can get all lined up over the winter. I want to make sure I can **** up some demons and hellcats come warm weather!

So far sound like Nittos or Toyos are the way to go...
