The cup holder works fine for me. No need to complicate things.

I like this.
My 2SS also has the wireless charging pad and I may stick it there, even though my phone won't charge.

I'm really happy with the Pro-Clip console mount that I've used for a year. The only modification I made to the Pro-Clip mount was the addition of a small trim screw near the bottom. If I sell the car, I'll remove the mount and fill the small screw hole with a dab of black silicone.

My 7 plus fit in the center console; just used a 90° cable head and had to angle it a bit.

I already have metal plates in my iphone cases because in our other cars we use vent style magnetic mounts so...
I use ProClip w/ a $5 sticky-back amazon magnet stuck to it. Works great now for 6 months. It's plugged into the center 12v port and then the cord goes down and under the trim (you can see my excess cord coiled up in the pic), since the end of the charging cable (zero lemon brand) is metal it sticks to the magnet when the phone isn't there. It's great but I would ultimately prefer having another 12v socket installed under the dash to clean up the center console. Pretty stupid 12v socket location in my opinion. Been planning on talking to some stereo shop about adding a 12v socket back further but just haven't gotten around to it. Anyone else come up with a better 12v location, like back by the glove box?

I used to put it next to my shifter after I plugged it in for CarPlay, but I have a lead foot and it keeps flying back into the passenger seat. So now I just put it in the passenger seat.

I just added a second 12v outlet under the dash.
I pulled the center console up, carefully trimmed about 1/4 inch of insulation off the wires going to the power outlet, and soldered a 2 conductor connector to the wires. Wrapped the soldered joints with self sealing electrical wrap. The other end of the connector goes to a 12v power outlet. I ran these wires under the console forward toward the dash. The new outlet sits tucked in on top of the left side of passenger side footwell carpet, where the bottom of the dash meets the center console. There is a dual USB charger in the outlet that has easy access. I ran 1 USB charging cable to the driver's side under the console for my phone, and I use a velcro-backed net pocket attached to the carpet on the side of the console to store the cord end and my phone. Another cable goes back under the side of the console and comes out between the console and passenger seat for my wife to use. Bought the 2 wire connector and outlet from Amazon for less than 10 bucks. Much nicer now not having the charger and cables sticking up from the middle of the console. |

Did you happen to make a video of that?
Or better yet, when can you come over and just do it? Feel free to video the process for others to enjoy.
