We do a lot of work with Hellcats and they all make more power than advertised. We routinely install 305 / 20 M/T drag radials on them. While a bit aggressive, they do fit and look fine.

We are getting over 800 rwhp on pump gas with just bolts ons and almost 900rwhp on E85. The ZL1 has no easy task beating a Hellcat.

All GM has to do is finally release the damn drag pak option for the ZL1....that tune alone would probably help the car out quite a bit.... but they could easily add another 70 hp by just upgrading the pulley

They'd have to do a whole new round of EPA testing, durability, etc..if they were going to do that they would have needed to have started around March of last year.

According to FCA, the Charger Hellcat will remain at 707. The Challenger Hellcat will get a bump up to 717 while the Redeye edition will go up to 797. And I gues they're addressing whatever tuning issues they had in the Demon that cause them to have troubles in roll races because according to the FCA site, the Redeye will be faster than the Demon.

Not sure why, but seems my other thread from the other day stating the release of the HC specs got deleted or I am over looking it. It had a lot of posts and views. Strange..

It got moved to the General Automotive + Other Cars subforum. Probably because it wasn't a VS specific thread...it was a thread about a car other than a Camaro. This one is about the Hellcat VS the ZL1 so it probably won't be removed.

OH, thanks for pointing it out where it is. When I did a user search I didn't see it in my results.

Before I reply, I'm currently a Hellcat Challenger owner, but not a total Dodge fanboy. As an older fellow, I will come in your house and post in a highly respectful manner. What I want to do is make honest replies about the Hellcat or C7 Vettes. It's just a simple matter of sharing information with car guys.

That is 100% correct. Any car I have listed in my signature was taken to the strip and run bone stock. I wanted to take my Hellcat to the strip, however the stock tires were so horrible that I didn't want to embarrass myself or the car by running mid 12 quarter mile passes. Bone stock, except for Mickey Thompson 305/20's, and in great weather I made numerous 10.7 passes. One even had a 60' time at 1.596, while most were in the 1.61-1.64 range. With drag radials, good prep, and good DA these cars launch like a beast.

Yes, the 305/20 drag radials do not look out of place. They fit and look just fine.

Yes sir, and I'm eying a Plum Crazy Red Eye when they come out.

What it appears is that Dodge is making the 2019 Hellcat kind of like a Camaro 1SS, without leather and the bells and whistles and the price has dropped around $5,000. Of course you can get one loaded out for more money which would put that Hellcat like the Camaro 2SS. I guess they want more Hellcats on the street.

Lastly, I dearly miss not having a PDR on my Hellcat. I loved that thing.

Your 10.70s show the Hellcats potential when traction isn't an issue. What I don't understand is Dodge offered the Demon drag package and now the Scatpack 1320 but nothing for the model that would benefit the most. Yet!

Not a good idea as spinning the little SC faster generates more heat. To me the only solution is a bigger sc, and even better a centrifugal supercharger with a port/direct injection conversion. The bog seems to be gone and you can go big power. Then even a fixed Demon is a drivers race.

You could do this for around the MSRP price of a base Redeye HC with a base ZL1 with a slight discount and still have one of the best handling and driving cars in the world on a track, on a mountain road, and even on just a laid back cruise. And fear no Dodge in the 1/4.

Sounds like someone is thinking about the future.

I agree with every word!

Honest question, did GM finally fix the overheating problem that was a problem for some C7Z's? Did/does the ZL1 and C7Z still have this problem or was it corrected? My guess is that this problem was fixed on the C7Z and was OK when the ZL1 was introduced.

I know there is even a class action lawsuit against GM concerning the overheating problems on the C7Z.
