My temperature gauge would stop working, fan would stay on high. It’s happened plenty of times before but I would just disconnect the negative terminal up front and it would start working again. Well this last time it happened the gauge didn’t work again and the fan would not shut off at all unless I pulled the fuse and the check engine light came on this time. Got the code read and it came up as the coolant temperature sensor. So I replaced it.

I appreciate you updating the thread with the location. Going to have to do that to mine soon I'm guessing as it goes off every few weeks and it's nice to find the location

The LT1 has a similar issue that appears to be caused by a bad thermostat. Coolant gauge goes to 0 and the fans never turn off.

Like Andy2002a said, when my LGX did the 0 temp displayed and fans on full blast after engine off, I replaced the sensor and the thermostat (also under the manifold).

I didn't drain coolant and it leaked all down the engine when I removed it. Not ideal, not catastrophic. Lots of cleaning up. It was a real pain to wiggle the thermostat out too.
