I changed all the pads on my 2018 SS Redline Vert to ceramics shortly after I bought the car. If you have heavy duty brakes you have to order ZL1 pads for the rear because the regular SS pads are different and won't fit. I bought my pads from O'reilly Auto parts and they work great.

what pads did you exactly get form your local o'reilly store and if i do get the zl1 style pads there will be an imbalance of breaking performance because of the rotors and front OE brembo pads

I swapped in the Powerstop Z26 pads. About 1/4 of the brake dust with no noticable difference on the street.

I used "Red Stuff" pads on my Gen 5 on all 4 wheels and loved them. Although they can be a little dusty if that's a concern for you.

I doubt if you will experience an imbalance from rear to front as the front brakes do most of the braking anyway. I have a 2018 SS with heavy duty brakes. When replacing the rear pads, I used O'Reilly part number C1053 listed for the 2018 ZL-1. It's easy to tell the difference because the standard rear brakes use a sliding caliper with small pads. In contrast, the heavy duty rear brake option employs a stationary caliper with a four piston design and bigger pads that press against both sides of the rotor.

Oh, the Z26 pads are still on the car. I did keep the stock rotors, though. I couldn't handle the brake dust from the stock pads so I actually gave them away to someone on this site. I'll only be using Z26 pads from now on but I'm guessing I'll still go stock rotors when the time comes.

And I'm not sure why you would only do the rear pads. I have the Z26 both front and rear and I cant tell the difference on the street... and that includes a couple of panic stops when deer ran out in front of me. FYI, these pads are capable of 1.0G of deceleration according to the dash meter so they're no joke when installed on the front.

Z26 are good pads for a daily driver car that you want less dust but they arent meant for auto x or track use, if you dont plan on ever doing that they are great if not stick with oem brembo/chevy pads

I have the Z26 ceramic up front.
I think the factory-installed semi-metallics are overkill, but they can sell the car as "track ready" when so equipped.
I don't track the car.
Z26 will go on the rear eventually.
