There is a reason for it...an employee at GM explained it to me...but I do not feel can paraphrase/explain the reason properly...as do not want to get it wrong.
The Chevy Dude on YouTube explained it the same way you did. So you did a good job.

Thanks, A quick story, A good friend of mine has been a Challenger nut since I meet him years ago. I called him the day I traded the 2017 Hellcat in on the HW Camaro a week or so ago. He was pissed. I bought a 2008 Challenger the first year they came out and a Hellcat last September so I was also a Challenger nut. He told me when i called him he wanted to come to my house and smack some sense into me that day. Well last week he finally stopped by my shop, (He is also my outside heavy truck tire salesmen so I knew he would show up someday), he walks in and says "let me see the care that made you loose your mind you trader". I showed him mine and my wifes. His eyes lit up and he asked a lot of questions. Then he surprised me and asked to take it for a ride. he was like a kid in a candy store, within minutes he had me on the phone to the dealer we bought ours from to see if they had one. Within 3 hours he was at the dealer trading in his 2012 Challenger SRT8 for the exact same car as mine to the penny. Sticker $51,240. He loves the car. He cant stop talking about it.
The challenger is a great car but it handles horribly. Add 707 HP to it it becomes dangerous. I loved my Hellcat but the Camaro is a blast to drive. I ordered Borla Atack and Powerstop front and rear pads and rotors. They should be here Tuesday 5/24 and i will install them this weekend, And you guessed it my friend ordered the same. SO FUNNY

SS CRUSH asked me if this was my first Camaro, It was 4:30 in the morning when I answered so I wasn't thinking, Coffee had not kicked in yet, I also have a 1970 RS/SS Hugger Orange Camaro that I restored 7 years ago. I will have my wife post the pictures because I screw the download up. I never drive it and forget its in the garage, also way back in time my first car was a 1967 RS 327 Camaro. I also have a 1955 Willys Jeep CJ3B thats really fun but slow.

Great story! Don't knock it till you try it...I've been thinking about the same thing, but trading in my camaro for a challenger! I've never driven one before. But, i always wanted to hear from a challenger owner about the way the car drives and handles. You kinda put it in a nut-shell...I've heard that the challenger drives like a truck..And it does not handle curves well at all. And not meant for tracking more for drag strip stuff...
How are you liking the orange crush color of your hot wheels camaro? I have a hyper blue metallic 2016 camaro. I love it. But, i really want the V8...The hot wheels edition has me interested...

The end of production is not tied to just the Hot Wheels. All 18 MY production ends soon.

Ordering is either closed or about to close for 18 MY.

We Love the Orange Crush Color. As you can tell from the picture, my wife has the convertible and she is thrilled with how it looks. Both cars are fun to drive. Perfect for the both of us. My wife fell in love with the car as soon as we walked into the dealership and it was sitting on the showroom floor. The orange is awesome. Honestly can't say enough good things about it.....

Is the orange crush a metallic color? I'm getting more and more interested in this car. I have never owned a V8...I currently own my 2LT V6 RS hyper blue that I call Jaws....How does the V8 handle?

Orange Crush is a solid color. No metallic. If it was metallic, I think I would have ordered one.

How come that stopped you from ordering one? Looks like a color that really pops...
