Michelin Cup 2 Track Usage
I have 3 DE days on a set of Cup2's in OEM sizes and want to share my impressions so far. Overall i think this is a great alternative to the GY 3r's. Much better wear, fewer concerns about wet weather (to and from track) and more civilized street performance. They are not as sticky as 3r's but dont melt away like them either.
Picture below is after 12 20 minute sessions in advanced group and ~600 highways miles. It was cool 50-60' so that may have contributed to slower wear and not pushing too hard as am still new to car (also very even wear) Car is set to track alignment. I found 34 hot to be best - much above and tires get greasy. The 305's come in two different load ratings - these are the higher load N spec which seem appropriate for the car. Also had some concern after reading specs on Tire Rack that the Cup 2 325's were not as wide as the GY's - pic below shows them mounted and virtually no different as are the fronts. I think these are a great choice for track rats who drive to and from track and are tired of burning through 3R's - small trade off in performance for a much better all around tire |

I used Cup 2's for awhile before switching to Pirelli slicks on my M3. I found that the Cup's seem like they last forever. They definitely lose their grip before they cord. Found myself tossing for that more than wear.
