So much wrong with that statement.

Let's not forget there's a direct relationship between displacement and emissions. There has been no lowering of emissions standards for US cars. So for them to get a 7.0L without DI to pass will be a feat. The only buzz I have heard regarding new Dodge power plants have been smaller and likely turbocharged engines. Not saying it's impossible, hell I thought the Demon was going to be impossible to be sold emissions legal. But it is very unlikely that Dodge would spend it's already non-existent R&D funds on a 426 engine that wouldn't be able to be used in the next gen Challenger/Charger which is a much smaller platform. Also the 426 has been in the Challenger Drag Pak cars for some years now, but never it made it to the street yet. Same with the Viper V-10, and another engine, the blown 5.7L.

Dodge and Ford are rumored to be working on 7.0 liter engines.
The Dodge 426 is supposed to go in the trucks first, then the Challenger. https://5thgenrams.com/exclusive-7-0...fferent-names/

I can definitely see them using this as a farewell option for the LX Challenger, if the rumor pans out. *And I never insinuated you were full of it, but there had to be something besides that video to make you think a 426 was coming.

As stated I had no idea that the 426 was going to make it into the Challenger until I seen the 426 commercial, I then went to check if Resumespeed had posted anything about a 426. All info I had was taken from his posts, I did see that the new Ram was getting it as well but was more interested in the Challenger. I then talked to my friend that works in the plant and he said that some pre-production Challengers had come down the line with the 426 engine, not sure what these 426 Challengers will be used for.

Sounds right if they are targeting a MY20 release. Those Challengers were probably the first batch of test mules. Interested in hearing more details on the engine design when they start trickling out.

Will see if he can get any pictures but he said they had way more HP than 550 so not sure if he was full of it about that, but he said they were the 426 HO. mules I think he would have taken some pictures, he sent me pics before of the Hellcat and Demon. He gets to drive all the cars, they even put the cars on a roller dyno and take the cars up to 75 to 125mph depending on the car.

It's a shame that GM won't take the chance and do a 396 heritage Camaro..

Camaro sales are suffering a little too much for GM to be able to fork money towards a car that will have such a little market. We're grateful we're getting a Z/28.

The commercial, in typical Dodge habit, is a tease of what's to come. In the nearly 8 years that I've been on that forum & owned 2 Challenger models, ResumeSpeed has never been wrong. When he states there will be a 50th anniversary 426 Challenger, there will be one. |
