A10 in daily driving

I know the A10 is great in wide open acceleration but for those of you that daily these cars, how is the A10 normal driving. Now that people have some miles on them, I thought I’d ask what people think.

It's just like most automatics day to day. Quiet, fast, smooth. Occasionally when it's cold out or been sitting for a while, the first few shifts (specifically 3-4) will have a bit of a hesitation but I take it as nature of the beast with the trans. This car could absolutely be daily driven if you are ok with the 6th gen's interior space and getting in and out.

Been daily driving all summer. Before I knew what the ZL1 was about, was dead set my next muscle car had to be another stick. Then stared reading about the A10. Absolutely no regrets. Best of both worlds. Totally docile when driving like a normal person. Shifts are barely noticeable and smooth. Will shift from1st through 7th or 8th by 40-45 mph. At any time you get near 1/3 throttle or more, drops down and puts you instantly in power band.

I’m constantly flipping from manual mode to auto mode and only in a few instances will mine slow shift to next gear. That mainly happens when jacking around in manual mode in 1-2-3 then laying off and shifting to auto mode real quick. Even this is not bad at all.

I also think it’s cool as hell when it goes into performance mode when going near WOT when in sport or track modes. Just reminds you this thing is made to race.

To me, no question I’d make same decision again. You get best of both worlds.

I'm just glad my Zl1 is a manual, been driving the ctsv (A8) for the past week and it's so f**king boring. I just couldn't fathom having this car in an automatic (yes I know it's faster) but for me the thrill is just not there. Manual any day over any auto (in a fun car)

Haven't daily driven mine per se, but over the last few months I've put some miles on mine doing a couple road trips, driving around town, through the mountains, etc. I have no complaints about the A10. It shifts super fast and smooth, and I don't notice it ever hunting for the right gear. When you put the pedal down, it downshifts and goes. No regrets and it would be perfectly fine as a daily driver.

I had an A8 in my 2016 2SS...The A8 is not even comparable to the A10!

I have A10 super fast upshift, downshift sometimes does not feel good in manual, in Auto works perfect, but it is boring...I'm still a manual guy, bought Auto because of my wife, I have another toy with manual and every time I drive it makes me regret why I bought automatic, no matter how fast it is, just my 2 cents.

My '16 Camaro SS was a 6 speed and my '18 ZL1 is the 10A. First automatic, performance car that I've ever owned (~50 years). The A10 makes the stop, stop and some go drive to work much easier. At the track, it is truly a monster. At the strip, it is just faster.

Mostly daily driven, except when I don't (sometimes I drive my truck).

I daily my A10 and have 14k miles her. No regrets at all and I think it makes for an extremely comfortable city and highway car. The shifts are smooth and direct. The only time I ever had an issue is with extremely slow creeping away from a parking spot in drive. If you are very gently on the throttle, which I am in my neighborhood for obvious reasons, sometimes you will feel a jerk / bump as it shifts from 1 to 2. The remedy to this is more throttle, but I really don't want to be that neighbor.

Out on the highway though - see a hole in traffic, and the car will always get into the right gear. It just knows somehow. The A10 is programmed very well.

Let’s not turn this into another “my manual is more fun” thread. The OP didn’t ask anything like that or even mention that transmission. He asked how the A10 behaves during normal driving.

That said, the A10 is very well calibrated. I’ve never felt it to be in the wrong gear, do any hunting, or really anything else strange. It’s so good that I find myself rarely using manual mode at all. About my only complaint is that manual downshifts can sometimes be a bit harsh. The full throttle upshifts more than make up for that. They still make me laugh.
