Probably because demand, you purchased a 1SS which was likely heavily marked up where as the car in question is a 1LE which wont receive as much markup brand new.

I knew I would be losing my arse on depreciation when I bought it, but damn, didnt think I would lose $15 grand in value in a year. Looks like I'll be driving this thing until the wheels fall off.
I'd bet you get a solid $5k more at a Chevy dealer towards another Camaro or Vette. CarMax offers seem like they keep getting worse over the last few years. Plus I don't even think they recognize the fact it's a 1LE and are just giving you a basic 1SS valuation.

Correct, because 1LE is not a trim level and just an optional package it will lose value much faster. If it was its own trim, then it would hold stronger.

CarMax base their numbers off Manheim auctions, as well as Black Book and their own sales data.

But It is a 1SS...just with a $7k optional package that won't bring that much back in resale. Black Book will add some value back in for the package.

Yeah, they listed "performance package, well equipped SS" lol whatever that means. Didnt have a 1LE option box to click I guess. Not sure what kind of profit margin they shoot for but probably more than the typical 5 grand. They had a 2018 Corvette GS 1LT with 3k miles "on sale" for $58k. There are new ones on lots going for that.

Since there are a lot of new 2018 Camaros on lots, what would be a fair price on a 1ss 1le with no options?

Just like people who don’t get much exercise, the systems in a car can atrophy pretty fast if it’s not driven and/or been sitting outside for a year or two. I’d carefully check the paint, the bottom edges of the rockers and splitter for crunches, the condition of the upholstery (no splits, stretches in seams or out-of-shape fabrics from a myriad of uncareful test drivers sliding into the seats) and the lower door panels for lots of scuffs. Mechanically, make sure everything looks and sounds right to you - and especially that the shifter and clutch work correctly. Also look for underhood corrosion and leaks, damage to the wheels and tire sidewalls and other problems underneath. 700 miles is a lot for a “new” car, especially when the car is only halfway through its factory break-in period and you consider how some people test-drive cars.

I would consider this to be a used car, even if it had never been sold. But the dealer’s website says it’s used (and certified). There are obviously two stories here. For perspective, my brand-new, zero miles 2018 1SS 1LE was $38K out the door - and I’ll bet I’m only a couple of hundred miles from you.

This can’t be true I’m an avid reader of this form and the up to 2018 is the best looking Camaro’s they ever made and will hold their value. People will seek them out like the muscle cars from the 60s Because the 2019 Camaro was so ugly and nasty an absolute mess that would force people to flock and run towards the 2018 Camaros as fast as they could.

LOL.

Actually there really shouldn't be any surprise here, all you have to do is look at the 5th Gen 1LE values and you will see the same. Problem is there just isn't a very big market for these cars new, never mind used. Those who are patient and don't mind purchasing a low mileage 1-2 yrs old vehicle will receive a great deal.

Listings are 35-37k but members are saying that’s high. Take that for what it’s worth and also check kbb.
