Convertible Storage Question

Am looking at getting 2017 RS convertible but wondering if you can use the space designated for the top as storage as long as the top is up?

Want to take it on vacations but worried about storage, but if we can use that space when we drive with the top up we should have no issue.

Once we get to location we can unload and the top can go down is what we are hoping.

True of the matter is that it's not made for vacation, unless you are the only passenger or two people traveling very light. In the back with top up, you can fit 2-3 carry on bags.

Take down the top, fit some luggage in the back seat, make sure they dont get on the way of the top coming back up. Close up the top. Then fit some more in the trunk. This way two people can travel and take enough luggage with them.

Just need to know if you can use the trunk space reserved for the top for storage if the top is up or are there sensors that will go off if there is stuff in that space?

I have a 2017 RS vert. The sensor is in the divider that you put up when you want to use the top. If the divider is down you won't be able to lower the top.

So, yes. You can pack the trunk for a trip and leave the top up on the drive and then empty the trunk and cruise the local area with the top down. That is my family's plan for this summer.

SS_MALIBU's response is 100% correct and complete... We use that space all the time and we "can't" make a mistake because of the clever sensor placement

If you open the barrier after the top is down, you can see that you have several inches of space that you can put some flat items in and then put the barrier back up. It's okay as long as you don't interfere with the top. I frequently leave small stuff back there, such as an extra jacket and a pouch with the owners manual. I've also put a flat case with jumper cables there with no problem.
