Do you let your engine warm up?
Just curious about how many let your engines warm up before you drive her. Luckily i have a garage so i start her then go back in shave brush my teeth and go to work.When i leave work i start her and gently wipe her down from the days dust.I couldn't imagine just jumping in a car and driving right off.I generally don't put in gear til i see 147 degrees.If this has already been covered,sorry.I did a search and a page came up but nothing about warming up your engine.

garage here also. Maybe 30-45 seconds and drive easliy for 5 minutes. Modern cars for along time now can get away with that vs the old days

depends if im in a hurry, then no. If i was in no rush then i will let it sit until the idle smoothes out then ill use it however i like.

Garage.
On a hot summer day. A few minutes max. Drive easy for a few then all is fair. A nice cool fall day. Lets say 50 F. Between 5-10 minutes. Then again drive easy for a few. To me its more about warming all the aluminum that the motor is made of slowly dependent on ambient air temp. |

Idle about 30 seconds to build oil pressure and then drive it easy until all the temps are up to normal

Garage I usually wait until the trans temp starts to get close to normal then it's game time.

The best thing for an engine is to get to operating temps under no more than a low load as soon as possible. You are not doing your engine any favors by letting it idle and warm up. Start you car, put it in gear, and drive in gently until it has reached operating temp. This is better for it than the long warm up at idle.

Well this is a frequently asked question and my answer is: I crank it up and let it run about a minute to get the oil flowing - then I drive it easy for two or three miles or so. Then she's ready to keep up with traffic. I never punch 'er up until the temp guage is at normal - summer or winter.

I start it up, get in and drive gentle for about 5-10 mins, far as I know as long as you aren't gunning the engine and going 0-80 rapidly the car will be fine as it warms up. Certain fluids won't warm anyway until the car is moving as apposed to being idle.

I'll start mine up and let it idle for 3-4 minutes then take off. However, I try not to run the engine past 2500 until the oil temps get to at least 180*. The coolant temp will rise fairly fast, but it's the oil temp that is most important IMO and it will take forever to get warmed up unless you drive it.
