The v1 I have I bought with the SAVVY which plugs directly into the car's ecu reader. Generally this turns on the radar detector with the ignition (in every other car) but so far it powers up even when I only unlock the car... So apparently that plug gets power then too

If I go wireless I'm probably gonna go with an Escort Solo S3. Really like the idea of a wireless radar. Especially because in the winter I move my current one to my jeep for the winter.

I run mine in dark mode so it can't be seen from behind. I can hear it and the plug is blinking on and off. Just me though.

Passport 9500ci! Hidden and great protection. Zero tickets in 2 and 1/2 years. They say if you are stopped and the cop sees a detector you are going to get a ticket.

Not really. You can't see the radar with tinted rear windows. Bright LEDs blinking is a different story. But like I said, that's just me.

I keep mine just below the mirror, it has 360 detection and in that lacation it has good access to the back and side glass. picks up atleast 2 miles away.

This is what I use. Inexpensive, nice and stealth, and the wiring can be tucked in to the headliner. To me, it's way less obvious than the expensive Blend Mount kit hanging off your mirror, which is an invitation to thieves to break in. Functionality isn't affected in the least. I ran one on my C5 Corvette before I had the Camaro, and with a tinted windshield strip, you can't even see it from the outside.

Once you go to component mounted systems you will never go back to the small units that hang in windshield. I've run the K40 and 2 Of the Passport systems. I have had highway patrol sitting there staring at their laser gun because they were positive I was speeding but they could not get a reading. I have got very few tickets and if I do get pulled over, they do not see any detector so the possibility of me getting a warning is much better. As was stated earlier, you definitely get what you pay for with radar detectors.
