This is a good thread/question.

For 2017 I was 100% Heartbeat, then the LT4 s/c option came in the picture and I researched that avenue and I was going to do that. I have settled on the e85 route and and I would like to hit 11.4....or 11.399 on e98 with what I've currently been doing (weight loss.. stock exhaust..drag pack). I pray that the speed bug doesn't bite and I'll leave it alone.

I made settlement on a shore property last week so just when I thought I was flush with some Benjamin's....BOOM back in the poor house

I was also thinking e98 for an edge...but I did some googling and some discussions on the topic some claim e98 is no better and possibly less hp in na applications.

One reason was the lack of gasoline causing an incomplete burn or something. Another reason was even further engine wear compared to e85 from the lack of gas. Less lubrication. A couple seemingly knowledgeable engine builders claimed the best results on pump e85 over e98.

Be nice if someone chimed in with experience/knowledge on the subject don't want to waste my money. Or damage the engine.

I think Ted also said that. I still plan on that with my Heartbeat I'm ordering tm. Gotta get the kit chosen and I may try to start the tear down on the 3rd of December weekend. Maggie should be here by the end of next week. Hopefully. Now that EFI tuning has a kit and it a 100.00 bucks less on black Friday I may go that route

Good to know, I'll def look into that when the time comes. It sucks race season is over but I am impressed with the number of guys on the list that have run under 11.9 with minimal mods....next year will be even better !!

I still may buy a drum of legit e85 in a 55gal drum from a place in Detroit. In colder months a lot of pumps drop to e70 and can go as low as 51 by law. Don't need that in my tank when I'm going for hero runs lol

That is exactly the path I'm thinking for best bang buck this first round of mods on my car. May add a cf ds as well. I expect at least 11.3 with all of that. Would like 11.1-2 but we'll see. I only need another few tenths and that will give me ~50 hp.

I ordered the flex kit today from tsloper/efi tuning it's on special FYI

I think you are right on track. There is a lot in the ECM/TCM tunes to make the cars faster that won't show on the dyno. If you do the IM, E85 and tunes you will easily hit your goals or better IMHO. I just told Laynlo15 the same thing. You and him have the setups and the mph already. Add the extra 40-50rw with the IM/TB/E85 with tweaks to the trans and you are there.

Do you port the intakes for efi tuning?

Are you one of the tuners?

Well I'm still thinking about the Heartbeat. I may need a different fuel system to run SC and E85. I talked with Pray and I may just do the stuff you guys are talking about which was my original plan or Nos. My track will probably eventually kick me out for running 10's with no roll bar so I'd have to back it down all the time which totally works against my thoughts to run in the 10's. Still thinking.

Yes, I do port the intakes and TB's for EFI. I do tune as well but not for EFI. You aren't going to find a better tuner than Tim IMHO.

For sure he seems to know what he's doing just wondered.

What's your opinion on e98 vs e85?

Is the tb opening and the ports that meet the heads the only porting that is done to the lt1 manifold ? Anything internal? Can it even be split ? I'm surprised one can pick up ~10 hp by just honing out those areas if that's the case..

An sc and fuel upgrade you looking at some major coin in the neighborhood of 10 grand. I'd see what she's got bolt on and e85 for now. But then again I'm not made of money...maybe you are lol

It will surely be cheaper to just have the secondary cats hacked out but I like a nice install. I'm thinking the primary cat delete pipes into the borla x-pipe/mid pipe section that deletes the secondary cats. Could do it myself and be cleaner install. Also toying with the idea of just buying a couple 18" dynomax bullets and a set of quad tips and having the rear section custom fitted. I love how they sound had them and orx on my ls1. would drop another 20lb and be cheap. I never use my npp anyway it's always open.

I had the dyomax bullets on my 6.0 82 lsx malibu wagon I built a few years ago. They are pretty loud, I took them off as they were to loud for me. I'm thinking I might try to be the first to run 125 NA. My car does pretty big MPH when the temp and da is right. I think with another 50 hp and a few more hundred rpm's that I could hold it in 4th I could be there. Pray can help me make that happen. We are gonna work on it with ported intake/tb and e85 plus the tune.
