I'll have them tomorrow. Turns out the drag radials weren't in stock, so we're getting some Hoosier slicks. I'll pick them up tomorrow and throw one on just to double check clearance, the. Hit the track Sunday for some T&T.

you'll be the first M6 guy with slicks as far as i know... I think if both had a good set of tires, the gap between the A8 and M6 cars would be closed. Guess we'll find out sunday

I see alot of guys on this forum racing the car with less than 1500 miles on the drivetrain.
Has anyone running ET's with few miles on their car run into any drivetrain problems? yet?

Can't wait to see what u can achieve with slicks on the m6, I took mine to the track the following day I purchased it with 250 miles on it, but after that I took it easy on her and now she barley past 1500 mile mark so I've been practicing my launches and running through gears. I hope I didn't mess it up by taking it to the track prior break in time.

Nobody at the dealer said one word about breaking in the car. I also follow the old drag racer adage of break it in how you're going to use it. While I have been driving it 30 miles round trip to work every day since the snow hasn't come back, I was at the track with 1000 miles on it, it went 149 the weekend after I bought it (on a Monday), I think it had 250 miles on it at the time. I haven't been very kind to it, but I haven't hurt it yet. And since GM announced they'll fix a stock car if you break it at the track, why not?? That's what warranty is for anyway....
I'm really debating spending the $1000 and doing a can swap, only because the warranty is so nice. Lol |

Sweet, dealer didn't say anything about break in either and I even told the sales guy that I was going to the drag strip the next day, he didn't say not to or bring up break in time either.

As long as you make sure you change the oil somewhere between 500-1000 miles, you could probably break it in how ever you want. I personally plan on taking the extra time and caution to break mine in as recommended. Need to make sure the rings are set right so theres no problems when I put the 150 shot to it

Let us know how it goes. My 60's are awful. so far a 2.1 is my best. But my 2SS is trapping up to 116 so the power is there.

check it out, directly from the owners manual. I trust the engineers at Chevy over some dude at at dealership telling you to go race the crap out of your brand new car.
Replaced the rear diff fluid in my car at 600-ish miles. It did have small particles on the magnetic drain plug and some discoloration of the fluid. Good rule of thumb when breaking in a rear diff. I've done it with my Jeep and my Toyota Tacoma after installing a locker.
