17 SS vs 16 Scatpack
My friend has a Scatpack Challenger Shaker and we ran it a couple times and we were neck to neck the entire time but I'm pretty sure after a couple more runs, with me getting more used to my car without missing any shifts, I'll be pulling on him. He has 485hp and 475tq but the SS can literally keep up so good against it. For the Scatpack Charger though, the SS pulls on them like it's nothing.

Why are you shifting to begin with? You can't beat the computer but can definitely screw up more. Also there's about 100lbs difference in the Challengers/Chargers. But I've not seen either be consistently faster than the other. Believe the aero on the Charger helps make up for the weight on the big end.

Same type of experience ive had All things equal all variables accounted for the SS has roughly 2 tenths and 2 mph advantage. Seen it time and time again when my car was near stock racing scat packs at the track. We were 60 footing near identical. Same track same day. Sometimes right next to me.They are quick cars. But the SS is the faster car if only by a couple tenths. It is a drivers race though. Fall asleep at the light or don't get a good start and youre done OP Stop using the paddles. |

Surprised a Scatpack yesterday. Not sure he had any mods but I'm guessing he thinks I had some or is looking to buy a Camaro soon and trade in the Chally.
Edit... Was today. Was a very long day.

ULTRAZLS1, weren't your close races with a Scat, when both cars had drag radials? Not bone stock?
Because comparing stock cars, the gap seems larger in my experience. Stock-looking Scat Pack Challenger at the track was about .4 sec slower in the 1/4 than my bone-stock Camaro SS, comparing our best ET's on the same night. |

I was also running a ported TB and a CAI. Stock tune stock otherwise. He had hellcat airbox mod, pulled his airfilter, tazer (dodge app from the srt that increases shift firmness) and had some vp 109 in his tank. Our 60 ft were nearly identical and I was consistently .2 and 2 mph faster all night. He has now been tuned on 93 and has a drag pack. He has run 11.58@117 IIRC early this year. He was 11.79@116 before tune and drag pack to my 11.68 @118.2. His 11.7 night was lower da than my 11.6. At the track together like I said .2 and 2 mph. Wonder what he has in store for me this fall...would be cool if he could make it a race again... |
