Not the Monday I had in mind
Sitting in a turn lane, next thing I know this lady is turning directly into me. Nowhere to go. Looks like fender, door, suspension is broken, wheel likely needs replaced, etc. I know it is just a car, but my heart is a little broken.

That really hurts! It not just a car, is all the sacrifices you had to do in order to attain such car. Good Luck and hope that everything works out for the best.

I am living your pain. My 2012 Fred Gibb #VIN with less than 9000 miles on it was T-boned on the passenger side rear wheel/quarter by a distracted young lady who did not see the red light or my car in the intersection back in August. $15000 in repairs but no longer original. Only driven on warm, sunny days and yet my bucket list car still gets wrecked. You are not alone but I know that someone else's misfortune doesn't help the way you are feeling right now. Hope your repair turns out well.

The risk of an accident forces me to second guess any amount of aftermarket modifications I think of doing. It would just be money gone...
Part of the risk of driving- I believe driving requirements should be significantly changed; some people do not belong behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Bummage. If it was her fault hopefully she's cited, or charged. At least no one was injured.

Thanks for the well wishes. It really stinks, but after having some time to think about it today, it's only the second accident I've ever been a part of after driving for 25 years and both were relatively minor and fixable. I guess statistics were due to catch me sooner or later- it's been about 15 years since my first one.
Fortunately, there was a sheriff's deputy about 4 cars behind me, so he took care of everything quickly. The lady that hit me was at fault, so I should be covered. I'm sure I'll have to fight to get enough money to go to the shop I am going to go to, but we'll see- maybe this will be a good insurance company to work with.

Dang , that sucks dude. Hopefully insurance takes good care of you and makes everything right.
This is the kind of thing that terrifies me every time I take the car out!

That’s the worst and I couldn’t imagine..... for the post that said she should’ve been cited or charged..... I would love to know for what. We forget now a days ACCIDENTS happen. As long as everyone is ok that’s what’s important. Trust me as a cop I wish driving test were harder and people paid more attention. But unfortunatly sh*t happens. Everyone and society is so sue happy. Without knowing the circumstances there really no infraction or charge for stupidity. I wish there was cause I’d be writing that 100x a day! Ok sorry for the tangent. Just hate going to calls and dealing with people that want something done to someone for there loss.... now drugs, alcohol, lack of license is a different story. Anyways mine is put up for the winter and will be back out in spring. Been a week and missing it already. Good luck with insurance companies!!!

It's not an "accident" if there is negligence. Who talked about suing? I suggested citation or charge if there was inattentive or reckless driving, driving too fast for conditions, or a whole schlew of other infractions. The whole point in a charge or citation, if warranted, is to ascribe fault, and hopefully teach her a lesson. So that, hopefully, she never causes this "accident" again. For what it's worth, the statement "accidents happen" is a damn poor excuse for those that get in "accidents" whilst texting, talking on the phone, dialing, adjusting the radio (or anything else in the car), eating, drinking, smoking, etc. etc., etc. If people just drove [attentively] when driving, far fewer "accidents" would occur, I submit. And thank God there are not lesser penalties in this country for those with lesser than room temperature IQ's. |

Contrary to popular belief insurance companies determine who’s at fault from what the officer puts in a report. And many infraction can’t be cited unless witnessed by an officer. Again sometimes people’s feet slip off the brake pedal, they sneeze, they have a bug fly in the car, or numerous other things. Now granted most of the time it’s operator error that causes crashes, but anyways if everyone was perfect like u we wouldn’t need insurance companies or police. Just to assume someone was doing something negligent is sad. And that’s what we’ve turned into as a society. Everything is on purpose... which is not the case. Ha calm it down bud. Anyways this isn’t what the post is abt. Again glad no one was hurt and it was just merial items.
