Slow cranking before starting up?
Lately whenever do I do push to start the car will do a weak crank followed by a pause followed by more weak cranks before starting up. I don't have this issue when doing remote start though.
I also experienced this issue a while back but they replaced the starter. Can it be a starter issue again or the battery is kicking the bucket? |

Usually warm starts, when I do cold starts I'm usually doing a remote start so when I get in I don't have to wait as long. I'll see how it'll react tomorrow.
I do remember before the starter replacement it was happening during both cold and warn start |

Many many many of us have the slow crank when warm problem. It has been theorized that its caused by lack of heat shielding on the starter, bad batteries, bad starters, etc etc etc.
There are dozens of threads on this topic. None have ever really solved the problem. Mine always starts, but its pretty embarrassing when you jump back in the car after picking up carry out food, everyone looking at your car, and it slow cranks and struggles to start. |

When I run it hard, I make sure I extend my drive enough :p to get the voltage shown on the dash well below 14.
In my experience, around 12 means battery is charged, around 14+ means I have been discharging the battery over many short drives or it's just been sitting. I may be wrong on this. |

have had same issue for a while off and on. happened year ago. took dealer could not find anything. happened again after car sat running while talking to friends then stopped at store and no start. let sit and while to cool and started. drove awhile no issues then no start. was always able to jump start. Decided to replace battery yesterday. Will see what happens now. 2016 ss with 27000 miles. I am sure you know there is a class action suit on this very issue. Who knows. I am out of warranty now and stuck if it is starter. Also just had shudder flush 2 months ago. Still have shudder. Very frustrated as love the car but would sell today if could get half way decent price. Problem is what to buy next for fun. Will lose a ton selling but will cost me down the road if keep. Take away the issues and the Camaro 2ss is a great car to drive. Wish I hated cars. That would make it a lot easier for me.

Change the 2 relays under the hood for the starter. But it might be time for new 2020 GM OEM starter. Do search I posted the current part number, that is better starter.

Mine has been doing this since almost new. Finally got to where it didn’t start at all. Replaced the starter with a new GM starter, still have a no start when hot condition. So it’s not the starter or the battery in my case. After getting wacked for $973 at the dealer last week for the starter, it’s going back to the dealer on Monday. 🙄

I have experienced the hot start issue myself and since no more warranty i plan on going with an aftermarket high torque starter like Power Master or similar. 11.5:1 compression hot motor is tough for a starter to deal with ( but i seriously thought GM would have a better starter/fix by now).
No way am i paying dealer prices for OEM just to have the same issue happen again. |

I had 1992 a S10 that went thru a few starters and they would do the slow start thing when hot.

Some people have claimed that adding another heavy ground cable from the engine to the chassis resolved the warm start problem for their car.

FWIW my car had the same problem and it ended up being the starter was drawing too much amperage. Had to swap it out and its fine now.
