Is this light supposed stay on?

I rarely drive at night, so I don't know if the little center dome/map light (above the rear-view mirror) is supposed to stay on. If it's normal, cool. If not; What should I do? It doesn't bother me. It isn't blinding or anything. I just wanted to see if it was normal or not. Thanks everyone.

I haven't noticed in my camaro, but every other car I've owned it does. I believe it's an NHTSA type thing, legal requirement for N. American cars.

That's the courtesy light you will find on most cars nowadays.

You can disconnect the connector to turn it off if it bothers you.

It's by design, being a courtesy map light that you might presumably need at any moment. There is no separate switch for it either.

Oh, and in case you haven't noticed, there are a few others, too, behind the infotainment screen and the door handles (no kidding).

Ok awesome. Thanks everyone! It doesn't bother me enough to disconnect it, I just didn't know if it was normal or not. And again, thanks everyone

That small light is meant to provide a small amount of light onto/around the shifter and that general area. It should not distract in any way, but he helpful to know where the controls and such in that area are when it's dark out. Put some black electrical tape over it to see the difference it makes.

Exactly.

This will shut off if you dim the panel all the way down to only the gauge cluster stays on.
