That is a bit higher then most see. E85 is normally worth 2-3 tenth reduction in ET. Would need to know all the data. The DA and 60ft were not mentioned between the 2 runs.

Yep, it was retuned and it ain't no bullshit. It was actually warmer and DA was higher then at the NMCA event where I first ran it then last Saturday
Nmca event St louis July 30-August 2nd. Approximately1/2 tank of 93 octane 20 psi in Drag Radials DA was 2141 and 73 degrees 12.06@116 and 7.85@92 mph 1.89 60ft Idle launch DA was 2079 and 73 degrees 12.10@118 and 7.88@90 mph 1.86 60ft Idle launch DA was 2000 and 71 degrees 12.10@114 and 7.86@91 mph 1.80 60ft Idle I also won a 100 bucks from NMCA for winning my 12 second class and 900 bucks from Nitto for Running their 555r2s so not a bad weekend. Bracket event St louis 8/22/2020 Just a little under 1/2 tank of E73 Drove it 320 miles on the drag radials 20 psi in drag radials DA was 2426 and 79 degrees 11.77@121 and 7.69@95 1.89 60ft 1800rpm launch Car didn't like this RPM at all. DA was 2689 and 84 degrees 11.58@114 and 7.46@95 mph 1.70 60ft Off idle launch. Let off about 1300 ft to keep from breaking out and loosing. Broke out and also lost. Should have ran it out the door. I had three other 1/8 mile passes, one was 7.55 1.73 60ft 7.54 1.72 60ft the other was 7.47 1.70 60ft The Vet made 434 rwhp on Dyno Jet on E73, we did not get a 93 octane pull because I almost ran it out of gas getting there and didn't have enough to do the pull. The sensor was installed and then back to the station to fill it with E85. It was 85 degrees inside the Justune dyno shop, so it was pretty dam hot, fans were on but only pushing hot air. I would guess it would have made about the same as my Camaro did stock which was 395 rwhp All ets came right of the digital time slip since they don't use paper anymore because of the Covid-19

I did sell the Camaro after I lost my job at Magnuson. I tuned it just before the Nmca event and Chad runner upped in the TVS Throw down. I had detuned it before I sold it so the guy could learn to drive it. Street tune made 774 on 16 degrees of timing, no meth/water. So I re-tuned it with 93/110 21 degrees of timing and no Meth/water and 14 psi of boost, made 843 he ran 9.57@144. He also won 1000 bucks for runner up on Saturday and runner up on Sunday in the fast 4 finals.

I think that the problem here is the impression that just the E85 was worth roughly a half-second. I think the reality of this situation was, it was actually a combination of the tuning along with the E85 that gained so much. I say that having done similar things with an LT1 myself, as my Camaro SS with just DRs on back and a drop-in air filter went 11.97, then adding a v-max ptb, driveshaft loop, and tuning combined with E85 went 11.34secs.

It is a combination of tuning and E85. I stated it had been tuned and no one would gain those numbers by just adding the sensor and not tuning. I'd say that would be the most important part. You had great numbers with your gains also. Mine has just the E85 and tune plus the Nitto 555r2s. I was just hoping for the 11.77 as I knew very little about E85 but had hear the benefits by a bunch on the Camaro Forum and the Vette Forum. Going to the LS Fest and the temps are supposed to be much cooler so might see some additional et gains there unlike the hot temps and higher DA we had a last weekend. My goal it just get to 11.00s this year with long tubes and Cai after the LS Fest. Did you like the Vmax TB?

As far as the V-Max ptb, it did not make my car faster at all. I bought it based on bad info posted back in 2016, now I know better. The reason that I listed it is because technically it was a mod to the airpath. I do not recommend it for a racer like yourself, money spent for no performance gained, not impressed. Did you keep that PRAY-ported 87 that you used to have, maybe try it on the C7? |

Geeez that was a long time ago so no I don't have that but will probably have Brett do the TB and intake this fall. My new tuner has done a lot of E85 tunes so he's pretty good at what he does. My logs all looked good and safe. We are running about 26.5 timing on E72-73. Decreasing from there depending on the E content of course. I must say this E stuff is a learning curve for me. I ran race fuel for so long with the Maggie 2300 and 2650 that is was pretty easy for me to understand the tuning. I'll get used to NA and will be just fine for future mods and will be able to tidy up the tune myself after logging runs as I did with boosted tunes. Its a new adventure I may hose it in the spring with a 100 shot to run mid 10s or so.

Impressive...I have yet to see anybody else drop a 1/2 second from E85 and tuning alone on a NA car if the 93 tune is optimized. It's a 25-30whp gain at best which is still really good. The shit isn't Nitrous...lol

No NOS King, I know less about that then E. I wasn't expecting that at all but shit happens and got a good tune and sometimes it goes like that. So am I surprised? Yes. Happy? Hell Yes. Next mods it will be my luck it will slow down. Haha.

Don't think so, long tubes, cai and tune again. I haven't run it in what I consider cool weather so I think it will go 11.40s as it sits in 60 degree temps. I'd just like to see upper 10s to 11.00s. I had to run back to back passes since I was running 2 classes and on my second pass the car would slow down because when I got back to the staging lanes it was about 5 minute and I was back in the burn out box and temps were over 200. So I ordered a billet T stat housing and 160 Stat so I think that will help and I turn up the fans a little. I did have a discussion with Magnuson about a 2300 but if I were to do one I'd want a 2650. We'll see what happens.

I imagine you are going to Union Grove. Love that track. Always ran good there on their night races. Low 12’s should easily be attainable if they have a good prep down. |
