Wrapped my Hood

3M Satin Vampire Red.
Was going to use Matte Red, but it look to orange to me. Looked at Satin Black and Dead Matte Black, but with the car being Shadow Gray, it didn't give me the contrast I was looking for.
I have wrapped small items before, but this was a first for me. Took me about 3+ hours to get it installed. Had a few minor imperfections, but overall it came out great.

Well, looks like you did a great job on the wrap, as far as the color, it's a bit strong for me, may look better if I saw the car from a distance. If it works for you, that's all that matters. Besides, if it took you 3 hours, I would leave it on for awhile just for that reason alone.

Nailed the wrap job.

I agree with 1hprush.
However I do think that if you have accents of that color elsewhere on the car it could tie in nicely and look awesome.

Hood looks amazing! Also would like to see a full car shot outside to really see the color pop.

Cheers,

Agree with this. Maybe doing a portion of the mirrors would help.

Stellar wrap job. Would love to see some full car photos once she's all put back together

I am thinking about a pair of racing stripes on the roof and down the trunk....same color.
Want to take the spoiler off, along with the bow tie on the trunk. The OEM stripes look unfinished, where they stop. I am dealing with a MY19, so it has the camera in the spoiler and learned yesterday from another member how to disconnect it. I don't want to do the single wide stripe, because then I would have to deal with the antenna on the roof and that is a big pain in the butt to remove.

Does the carbon fiber insert just bolt off? I'm thinking about having true fire blue flames air brushed on it.

More or less yes, possibly with a little bit of foam.

17 bolts, which includes the rain guard and double sided tape at the top, along with 2 clips. If you look at my pics, at the top, near the windshield, you see a ridge that runs from one side to the other. That is where the double sided tape is. At the very top, there are three bolts holes in the center flanked by two square holes on either side, the clips are attached there. The clips are permanently attached to the underside of the insert.

The link in the previous post by GUNKK is a great "how to". I posted there as well my experiences at taking it off. Fairly easy, with the right tools! I would lay a blanket/drop cloth over the engine compartment in case you drop one of the bolts, while you are removing/installing. If one falls in there, you might never find it. Suggest you have a magnet stick. The bolts at the top are recessed into the hood and difficult to grab with your fingers, if one falls in the recess, don't think you will be able to recover it.

Thanks. I've sent the info to the air brusher.
