Look who's becoming the expert. =)

Yes, you will get a loud crack as the ECU is cutting fuel to help the RPM's drop faster and improve the shift speed. On the automatic it is amazing how fast it can shift. For the manual, it is part of no lift shift.

Cool, guess all the manuals have it...funny thing is even the owners manuals are very mute on the topic. First I saw about it was Motor Trend mentioned they used it on the SS 1LE.

Did the backfire pop scare the bajesus out of you the first time you heard it?

I'll try it some more though. Want to run through a good 1st to 4th pull using this method.
Do you have NPP?

I think all the 50th anniversary SS do?

I found it odd he didn't get the loud backfire that I get when I do a no lift shift though. Maybe he didn't have it floored enough?

If your exhaust note changes when switching driving modes (louder), you have NPP.

All you have to do its look at the tips (quad tips for NPP, dual tips for non NPP). Plus the NPP diffuser is finished nicer...

There should still be a backfire when NLS is engaged... but it probably won't be as loud if it doesn't bypass the muffler.

I see. Have you tried using no lift shift? Do you get a loud ass backfire as well?

ohh! from what I understood (in a different thread) is that 2016's do not have this option. so my guess is that we do have it!?

and 2, wonder if it affects boosted vehicles?

I do have NPP but I did the fuse pull on it so don't know if that would change anything. Basically the valve is always open.

It was floored. I didn't get an opportunity to try it again on the way home lastnight due to traffic.
