MAYBE ITS BECAUSE THE WEATHER ? Historically it has been dryer out that way but El Nino has been messing that up this year
Yeah, good solid dry mountain weather would be awesome!

California? Have at it. Kansas is my vote- its close to home. Shoot another unmentioned option is the track here in Tulsa .....Hallett. Like Kansas its very close to the middle of the nation.

Here's a truth..the more you put the choice in the middle of the nation, the better the attendance will be. If you do the Land of Fruits and Nuts... its a fact that a west coast choice is just going to be further than most folks who will not trailer and will drive -> will want to come. Those folks are not going to put 3000 to 5000 miles on their car -> just for a meeting with fellow owners.

As for me..sorry, but no way I'm loading a trailer up and driving to California.. I might have been born there when my father was an officer at Pendleton, but that's as close as I'd ever want to be.

The Smokey Mountains and the tail of the Dragon is loads of fun. I drove it twice in my old 2011 2SSRS.

Have you been to the Kansas track? If so, how is it? Have you been to Hallet?

Hallett Motor Racing Circuit is a 1.8 mile, 10 turn Road Racing course in the rolling Osage Hills of North Eastern Oklahoma. It is located 35 miles west of Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the Highway 99 exit of the Cimarron Turnpike.

I have yet to drive it, but I've watched a friend in his 3/4 scale car tearing it up, as well as Eddie Hill in his Ariel Atom. Seems like you can hit 140 to 150 in 4 to 5 sessions/day at 20 to 25 minutes/session, which I thought worked pretty well. Everybody gets checked out prior to running, and you need to have a helmet. Seems like I remember the Vette Set in Tulsa did a track day with 20 folks at $150 each. I'd be game for the meet there - its ideal for me. (I'm in Corvette Friends of Oklahoma now.)

Heartland Motorsports in Topeka KS (west of Kansas City) is like a 3 hr 45 min drive north of Tulsa-221 miles. I'll ask club members about the Kansas track, to see if anyone has driven it and their impressions. I just think you'll have more folks come if a get-together was planned closer to the middle of the country. I know I will. Another thing about timing, from July to December, Oklahoma is generally pretty dry, so the chances for a wet day for the meet are reduced. Typically the grass goes a little golden from lack of water down here inthe summer and fall LOL. All the rain this year is really unusual.

I have done track events with a group called West Coast Racing at Big Willow a couple of times. Have also run with a group called Speed District. Both are excellent groups and limit the number of cars on track. I am planning to track with these groups again this fall.

Talking with others, it seems like we are narrowing down to Road Atlanta or Laguna.

Ahem...shall we entertain the idea of COTA. Ive gotten about 5 requests for COTA.

For a "national" type of get together I like your thought to keeping it at a real "Icon" type track, i.e. Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca, COTA, Watkins Glen, or Road America. They are all special with lots of history. (although COTA not so much yet) I know personally I would not spend the money, time and energy to travel a great distance for a tier 2 or 3 racetrack.

I live about an hour away from Road Atlanta (pass it regularly).

Know a few breweries in the area, you know, for after meet meets.
