I used my dealer religiously near my apartment in Michigan. I had 'my guy' , service department knew me well, I pulled my own car to the lift, stayed in the shop to wrench and inspect before/after track days..etc (perks of being a GM engineer). I got my track services done there and my routine stuff done there. I trusted that kid with my cars life! Unfortunately, my local dealer here ive grown up with for most of my life, and they are...erm...very bad to put it nicely. I wouldnt trust them with a hotwheels car.

My dealer is a small town dealer, but sell lots of vettes and one Z/28, mine. I took it for one of my free oil changes and happened to stick my head in the garage. Their lift was too high to drive onto so they jacked the rear up using the differential to get it on the lift, which is a BIG no no on our cars. First and last oil change they did. In their defense all other service has been great. They just don't understand our cars' needs in some respects.
Do yourself a favor and change it yourself if you have any doubts about a dealer's service dept.

Bingo. As other's have said, service depts have poor care for peoples' cars. Unless it's high dollar warranty work, I'll manage my cars' fate at my own hand. No worry of collateral damage due to some flat rate tech trying to make a buck at my expense

The Chevy dealer I use is state of the art for mechanical work on Modern cars. They work on the LS7 Corvettes, some worth over $100k. There are some good dealers out there, as well as bad.
