I think 3/4 ton and up trucks have less stringent emission standards than cars, 1/2 ton trucks, etc but I'm not sure.

After careful analysis, I have come to the conclusion that the only sensible thing to do is to put a 6.7 liter cummins in a Colorado and call it a day

I've seriously been toying around with the idea of making biodiesel out of used veggie oil. It seems to get more cost effective every year.

The new emission laws changed all that. That is why the new diesels get terrible fuel mileage compared to the ones just 2-3 years ago.

just go with a 5.9L

less weight, simpler setup, and easy to get 600+ft lbs

fairly easy to make too, so long as you didn't do too bad in highschool chemistry.

Id like to see a Silverado or any other full size truck follow an old school 80s Toyota 4wd or even my mitsubishi truck with 32s into the deep bushes or mud pits. good luck.

Well duh, different application. If I'm going into soft terrain, be it mud sand or whatever, lighter is better all other things being equal. The lower your ground pressure is the less sinking you'll encounter...

I think the 'lighter is better' is a main point that he's getting at.


And its true... which is why mid sized car's like the Tacoma are more popular for off roading... and more effective. Cheaper too fix as well.
