Possible to permanently disable auto headlights?
I keep my car parked in my garage. Problem is that as soon as I turn the car on and reverse out of the garage, the headlights turn on and then a few seconds later, they turn off as it is light outside.
The same thing happens when I park my car at work in an underground parking lot. This means that the HIDs are being turned on and off for a few seconds, which I'm sure isn't helpful when it comes to its life. Therefore, is it possible to just completely turn this auto headlight feature off? |

Have you tried using the lighting controls on the stalk?

yeah... turn your parking lights on.... then, your headlights won't come on unless you turn them on.
when you get out, leave ther parking lights on. they will automatically turn off after 10 minutes

Put the car in accessory mode( hold start button for 5 seconds without foot on brake and when everything boots up), turn off auto headlights, now start car.
It’s what I do when starting and going into my garage to preserve the bulbs, but I do turn it back on because I want the DRL’s on. Despite the remarks here, turning the auto headlights off isn’t permanent and resets to on every start up. |

Ah, it resets every startup. That is unfortunate.

You are wanting to do this because you think your headlamps will burn out faster?
How many modern cars do you see driving around with burned out headlamps? This is a non issue. Halogens are the least durable, followed by HID then LED. https://www.theretrofitsource.com/bl...-hid-vs-laser/

I've tried that. Even using that stalk and placing it on the parking light position, the headlights STILL turn on.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or serious, but either way to answer your question: OF COURSE I've tried the stalk. LOL.
There is no way I can control when the headlights turn on as it is fully automated. This might be great for majority of the owners and i get that it's a safety feature to have. |
