I won by a half a length, but by all rights he should have won but he couldn't drive. It just goes to show unless your grossly overpowered by a modded 5.0 it's all a drivers race.

i spend a lot of time at the track and i have never seen a new V6 camaro or mustang run drop 7/10's with just a tune, not to mention it was not even a dyno tune??

not in our heat and humidity anyway. seems like the ones mainly claiming this are non camaro owners on this site. no need to be a smart ass with the answers either. im not some newbee to the car scene. im a member of the mustang forums too and i also own a mustang

Well, he is referring to the claim that the 5.0 with a tune is worth 7/10ths in the quarter mile. That's the equivilant of about 70 hp. I'm not saying it's not true, but seriously, think about that. If and when I see it in person then I'll believe it, until then it's just something some guy said on a forum. I love the fact there are so many defenders of the great 5.0 here. you dont see me talking crap about the camaro and how superior it is on a mustang or challenger website. bring it to the track, then we will see what is just talk or facts

The .7 gain was on an auto equipped car and as many of you members know the factory puts limitations on power output especially in the lower gear like torque management, soft rev limiter's that close the TB 500 rpm early, slow shifting, ect. It didnt gain 70 peak hp but I bet it the tune picked up about 50hp in the mid range of the lower gears.

A custom dyno tune on an auto could easily pick up .7 in the 1/4 mile once you delete all the factory nanny's limiting power and then go to work with all the cam timing adjustments and raise the redline to 7,300rpm.

There is way more to a tune the peak numbers and I dont see why a L99 couldn't do the same with a dyno tune.
