I'm the OP that started this thread. I have always said, before doing any mods on my own car, get a friend to do theirs first. Thanks to all the guys that have tried MHCW, I continue to follow this thread and have used some of your great ideas on how to apply it. I just tried it for the first time on my sister's Nismo and my ZLE and the results were really fantastic. Thanks again to all that participated!

I used it on my black ford F150 back in March. Tuxedo black paint. I clayed it first and did the base coat with a microfiber pad. It is still beading and going strong.

I picked up a $5.11 bottle of turtle wax seal & shine on Amazon, recently. Will do a side by side comparison with 1:10 diluted hcw, just for kicks. If that's lopsided, I'll try a lower dilution ratio for megs hcw.
1:10 diluted hcw, every 3-4 weeks, works great for me. |

The TW seal & shine makes my white camaro very glossy. I cant remember megs hcw giving me this much gloss, even when i applied it full strength.
They got the shine part right. Let's see how long it "seals". I did apply full strength hcw to half of the hood for a longevity test. |

Maybe just my eyes and the angles, but the TW s&s part of the hood is noticeably glossier than the hcw part, today after about 30 hrs of curing.
I say noticeably, because I'm trying to be impartial. The amount of effort involved in applying seal & shine is much lesser too, compared to full strength hcw.... Let's see the performance after 4 weeks. |

So I'm still using the Meguiar Ceramic spray on my daily Hyundai and it still beads like crazy and hardly needs to be cleaned. But now I'm realizing it's a good product for a light colored car that already had Meguiar polymer coating on it.
So I tried using it on a dark car 3 year old car that been pretty neglected with no wax or polishing in all that time. I washed the car, did iron removal, and then a quick pass with synthetic clay. Before the ceramic spray the car was not beading at all. I started applying the ceramic spray and like Glen stated, it was just too thick. It did not spread easily after hitting it with water. I was able to get the car to start beading and it definitely added some shine. The next day went to check the car and I found way too many streaks. Similar to what I've seen on headlights and glass on my other cars. My other cars are white and silver and I assume that is why I didn't see streaks. I can't recommend using this on dark cars and definitely won't use it on my red Camaro. |

^^ Dilute it, will get rid of the streaking. I diluted it 1:10 and still had beading, after about 5 weeks completely exposed to the elements, albeit, not as great as day 1 off application.
After about a week, the TW s&S side of the hood is noticeably beading better than the hcw side. Also, less water seems to stay on the TW s&s side of the hood, after a rainstorm. Both TW s&s and HCW were applied full strength for the hood comparison. |

Finally got to putting the first wax on her, MHCW. It was kinda torturous because even in shade the car was warm enough to dry the spray pretty quickly, even after 2 washes.
But I did the base coat then the rinse coat and toweled it off near dusk, so I expected to find blemishes this morning, there were none. I'm amazed. It really deepened the color I think. Good product.

Glen, I have read through this thread since I just bought my first bottle of the Meguiar's hybrid ceramic wax, and am getting ready to use it. If I read your posts correctly, the first time you used it, you just sprayed it on a dry car and found it difficult to remove, and didn't like it. And then sometime later, you re-read the instructions or somehow learned you weren't using it correctly, and changed your opinion. But then, you tried a new approach by diluting the product first and now this is your preferred method. Is that all correct?
I did watch the official Meguiar's how-to video with Mike Stoops, where he showed the initial application should be after a wash but before the drying process. He just sprayed the full strength product on the wet car, and then wiped it dry (using Meguiar's waffle-type microfiber drying towels of course) to make sure the base application was thoroughly spread over the car. Subsequent applications only require the HCW to be sprayed on the wet car and then simply rinsed off. I'd just like to ask why you prefer diluting the product rather than using it full strength per Meguiar's directions? Just trying to decide myself, and I respect your opinion on detailing topics. Also, I'm curious about applying it to the 1LE vinyl matte hood wrap. I previously tried waxing it (a small area thankfully) to give it a more satin look, but that was a disaster with streaking and spotting. So now I just use McKee's 37 matte finish on it. I'm thinking the Meguiar's HCW might add a slight satin shine, but want to avoid any possibly streaking. What do you think?
