Largest Tires For Stock 2SS 20" Wheels?
So I have searched multiple pages here and I have not found a definitive answer yet.
I have a 2017 2SS with stock 20" wheels. Tires sizes are 245/40-R20 front and 275/35-R20 rear. Tire size comparison shows that a 255/40-R20 front and 285/35-20 rear would have a negligible difference in diameter compared to stock but give an extra 0.4 inches of width both front and rear. Has someone put this size tires on their car and do they fit without rubbing? Thanks. |

Those are fine. People have put 305/30 on stock SS rears.

I had a 255/40 + 285/35 combo with stock wheels as well, no problems there whatsoever. 305/30 is stretching it (heh), may work with some relatively narrower tires for the width spec, but it's not ideal, the sidewall will almost roll over.

I recently bought a set of takeoffs where the installer goofed and put the 275/35 on the front 8.5 rim and a 245/40 on the rear 9.5 rim. The 245 on the 9.5 clearly looked wrong but the 275 on the 8.5 wasn’t apparent to me or the seller until after I saw the weird looking 245 on the other and started measuring things. Seller drove them that way for 1000 miles and I see no ill effect on the tire. Tires are non run flat all season Nexens with a Z rating.
I’m swapping them this week to put my GY F1s on the wheels I acquired (OEM ‘19+ split spokes...they are a bit nicer looking than my ‘16 split spokes). Not sure there’s a combo with 275s on front that would keep the rears close to the same height, though, which is needed to keep the stabilitrac from faulting.

^^^ Thanks.
I hadn't seen that table before and it's generally pretty good (and appears to prioritize handling over "meaty appearance" - a good thing IMO). FWIW, taller-profile tires typically adapt a little better to the fitments listed under "Min tyre width" than lower-profiles . . . just noticed the UK spelling 'tyre' which probably explains why I hadn't seen it before.
