Power steering air diverters ZL1 1LE on a ZL1 A10

Boring mod which should help with on track steering rack/electric assist motor temperatures. I personally have never had any issues with the steering rack even with ambients over 100°F at VIR. A tighter circuit with more turns and less straight may benefit. This is a GM part and fits perfectly on any ZL1 (possibly SS cars also). It is provided with ZL1 1LE cars in the trunk ('19 & up I think). Easy install with no problems. Coronavirus boredom made me do this today... Pics below with GM part#84669205 approx $95. Part # in pic must be the instructions part #...sorry. The parts propped against the brick wall are the originals which almost completely close the area around the rack.

Another post with better pics is here: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...php?p=10495348

Thank for posting. It wasn't in the trunk on my '19 but I'll look to see if the dealer installed it.

Did you look where the tow hook area/ tire pump & sealer is below the carpet?

Slight mod

Thx for this Stephen12ZL1

Since mine is a DD, I plan to put on the cooling ducts during track prep. I opened up the area around the front bolts on the rear of the front air deflector. The front air deflector doesn't have to be loosened for the swap.

I put mine on tonight. Should have done the same thing for bolt clearance.

Interesting that the support brackets are identified as “LH” and “RH”, but only fit the opposite side.

Yeah, that caused some prolonged frustration the first time I installed them before a track day. So much for following the instructions.

My car is at the dealer now for the 1500 mile service and they are installing these along with a track alignment and DOT 4 brake bleed, oil rear end etc.

I plan on leaving them installed.

They should be in a box about the size of a show box. Mine were in the trunk.

Also take off the two little straight edge pieces on the bottom of the front edge on the left and right side of the splitter for track days as well.

Prepping for my first track day and I didn’t have these in my trunk. Put the car up on my lift and found that my dealership (apparently) installed them as part of their PDI.

Installed last night. Leaving them on. That was a bit of a PITA with the front bolts!

Funny. Never saw these with my 2018 ZL1 1LE. Might have already been installed or just not available then. They came with my 2021.

Any issues installing them on ramps?

Do the large plastic covers stay off in this configuration when the steering rack air diverters have been installed?

The left/right thing got me as well. I wouldn't have wasted so much time with it if they weren't mislabled.

Yes, at the end of the job, you will have (2) plastic subframe covers and (2) torx screws remaining. The torx screws are on the forward edge of the covers, and previously tied them in to the wheel liners.
