Weird “kick” when coming to a stop
2020 turbo4 / A8
Anyone else notice a weird “kick” sometimes when coming to a stop? Like the car lurches a bit when the transmission downshifts to 1st gear when coming to a stop sign/light/etc. |

I'd visit the dealership, have their tech set the transmission to relearn mode so you can then run through the re-adaptation cycle to train the transmission with your specific driving style. If this doesn't help, I'd try to get a transmission flush done as a next step, and if that doesn't help either, I'd simply learn to live with it or get rid of the car, depending on how bad it is (mine was tolerable, more of a little nuisance).

Thanks- it seems to be more of a nuisance than anything else; I can certainly live with it but was just worried that my transmission was on the verge of offing itself

the A10 does that sometime when slowing down to a stop, just as its going into ist gear, the car acts like it wants to rev match and that gives me a little push.

Yeah I believe I’ve only experienced that when slowing down after being in competitive mode

I get it when in manual mode and downshifting to a stop, it seems that 1st wants to push for a bit when I drop into it, but then its fine.

While I don't have the 8 speed in my Camaro, I do have it in my Colorado and it does the same thing. It's a pretty common issue in the Colorado world and is supposedly normal. I've noticed in my Colorado that it only does it the first 1 or 2 stops for the day and then is fine after it warms up.
