Allocation
So I contacted a dealer on Thursday 5-4, I knew it was allocation day. So I asked if they had an allocation for a 2023 Camaro 3LT. He said he did. He got my order in the system and emailed a GM Workbench confirmation within 30 minutes. I looked at the confirmation and saw "Priority: 1". I was pretty stoked because another order I have outstanding is "Priority: 20" ....Anyway - fast forward to today (5-8) as of 6:00AM , DC told me the order was still in 1100 status. So did my salesman lie or does it take a couple business days for GM to accept an order that has an allocation?

I have an order in supposedly with an allocation but it’s been 2 weeks and it’s not accepted yet. Chevy Chat told me LT1 orders are on a 20% restriction. I don’t know what to believe. But maybe your order is also on a restriction.

Unless your status moves past 1100, there isnt a real allocation which has been accepted by GM for production. Also Priority 1 just states that its a customer order.

Status 1100 does not mean the dealership has an allocation. It just means they put the order in the order bank so it is visible to Chevy. What you are looking for is order accepted by Chevy status 2000 or greater. Here is a refresher from the first page of the order status thread and link:
https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=606888 1000 Order On Hold at Dealership 1100 Order Placed at Dealership 1101 Order Entered into System 1102 Order Entered via Web 2000 Order Accepted by Chevrolet 2001 Order Generated to Dealer 2005 Order Replaced with GM Prospec Order 2030 Order Edited by Chevrolet 2050 Order Changed 2500 Order Preference (or "Picked Up" or "Imaged"), Sent to Production 3000 Order Accepted by Production Control 3100 Order Available to Sequence (now becomes more stable) 3300 Order Selected and Scheduled for Production by Assembly Plant (Target Production Week usually available now) 3400 Order Broadcasted for Production (Internal Plant Order Produced) 3800 Vehicle Produced

I was told the same that my dealer had allocation for my trim a 2SS. Been sitting at 1100 since 4/10. The salesman barely know anything I see from past experiences

That being said, if any dealer receives an allocation on Thursday then that will be accepted by GM by Tuesday, that's how the system works. If the order hasn't been accepted by Tuesday then either your dealer used the allocation for a different order or there was never an allocation to begin with.

I went to the dealer yesterday to check up. I talked to a sales manager. But I'm guessing that I'm being mislead. It's been 2 weeks and he was acting like I was being unreasonable for asking why it hasn't moved to 2000 yet. Though he did show me that engine supply is limited now. I don't know if that is holding up orders being accepted.
But the whole thing felt like classic misdirection and confusion tactics. When I woke up, I realized that even after he talked for 15 minutes, I didn't see any concrete evidence of an allocation. The whole thing is putting me off of GM at the moment. It's a dumb system that punishes buyers. |

Situation is pretty much the same for any in demand performance vehicle in the market irrespective of the OEM as companies are unable to keep up with the demand. I know people who waited for more than a year for a BMW M3 build allocation.

I agree with VJ123 it is pretty much the same system with all car manufacturers. I have an order in on a BMW G87 M2 since last August and I was 21 in line with my dealership. First orders are starting to trickle in May June. I probable will have to wait until next summer for mine. Any ways, I will probably cancel since I am sure I will be sticking with the 2SS 1LE. I am working with two high volume dealerships with a good allocation bank. Ordered January and looks like delivery end of May or early June. Stay patient and keep on bugging the dealership and/or order else where. Good luck.

I think in MBO, that all OEM companies are under pressure to limit Gas powered vehicle
production, at least in the states. That is an opine. What I know for fact is transportation, is a mess. To include Rail, Highway and drivers. Just use google maps to view the sea of vehicles at the Lansing grand river plant. Cheers |

Also, the Melvindale Train Station yard near Detroit. Mine just moved from Lansing to Melvindale. You can see many Camaro's waiting for a ride there. Of course this is an older snap shot, but I am sure some thing similar is going on there now.

IMO it's both the dealers and GM. Their arcane, inflexible allocation system only works when there is ample supply, and isn't fair even then. Zero official customer visibility into allocations, order tracking only offers scant and vague information, which is 100% GM's fault, and then it's compounded by cars stuck for weeks in transit...
Now, with continued low supply levels, many dealerships either play the man-in-the-middle game for ADMs, others, especially smaller ones, have little to no chance to even get vehicles for their customers and have no leverage in the process. It's somewhat pathetic that people are forced to buy out of state and travel 800-1000-1500 miles to get a car.
