Just got notification that the parts for the Rear Park Assist are now available

As the title says, my car was built last year without the rear park assist feature, but with a promise to retrofit it once the parts became available. Well, just got notification today from Chevrolet that the parts can now be had, and I can contact my dealer to order the parts and schedule an appointment. According to the literature, I have until March 31, 2026, so I don't have to rush out to have it done right away (which is a good thing, as I still haven't taken my car out of winter storage yet). Will probably have it done next month once the weather is nicer and the roads are clear of all the sand/salt they put down over the winter.

I'm assuming you can take the car to any GM dealership, although I'll probably be going back to the dealer I bought the car from since it's not that far away, and I was happy with the Sales department at least (never had service work done there before). I'm not crazy about having the work done at my local dealer since the last time I spoke to the Service Department I wasn't happy with the way I was treated. I may bring the car in to the local Buick GMC store, if possible, because we had a great experience when we brought my wife's Saturn Sky there last year, and I worked with the guy who runs the department so I should get good service.

Did they say how long the repair should take? I’m not sure if I will have it done if it requires taking things apart. If it’s plug and play while waiting at the dealership, then I might have it done.

Having a dealer **** with my car scares the shit out of me.

I know, I know... plenty of good dealers and plenty of bad stories.

I would even hate beeps everyday I back up into my tight garage

Nope, nothing on how long it's estimated to take. Just instructions for contacting your dealer so that they can order the parts.

As other's have said, I'm pretty nervous about having the dealership work on my car, which is why I may take it to the local Buick GMC garage if I'm able to. I know the service manager there, and he knows how particular I am with my vehicles, so I have no doubt he'd make sure the techs did their best to not f*** up my car. He took particular care of my wife's vehicle when we had service done on it after she bought it last year, and he was excited to hear I was getting a Camaro, so I'd trust him to look out for me.

I looked up the info for the retrofit and it's pretty straightforward. They need to install the parking assist module on the left side of the trunk, and then program the module and instrument cluster. Total service time is 0.8 hours.

That's great to know. I'm actually having it done at my local Buick/GMC dealer as I know the service guy and he should be really good about making sure my car is handled properly, and he thought it would probably be just a module. Last I knew he was trying to get the parts from GM (he did say it might take a while).

Should take 45 minutes that's what Chevy told me. I decided not to do it because I think hearing beeping is annoying and having to turn it off every time I start the car is just as annoying.

Personally I don't mind them. Better to have the beeps than damage!
A few things I will never buy another car without:
Adaptive cruise control
360 Surround Vision
Rear Cross Traffic alert

Recently bought a (used) Acadia Denali with all the bells and whistles, then drove it to FL. OMG the Adaptive cruise control is worth its weight in gold!
If you've never driven down the Keys, it can tax your patience! I set the ACC at the speed limit (don't go over by much in the Keys if you don't like tickets!) and barely touched either pedal most of the way from Key Largo to Marathon, including in traffic that was stop and go at some times. ACC will bring the car to a stop in traffic and you just tap the go-pedal once to get it moving again.
Don't get me started about the morons on I-75 who don't seem to understand what cruise control is for, and have a defective right foot that can't maintain a steady speed! The +/-10 morons are the worst, and they're usually in the left lane, pacing a vehicle on their right without ever passing it!

I was the first retrofit at my local dealership and they weren't sure how long it would take. I got a call saying it was ready within 2 hours, so I would assume that's the top end. Probably less if your dealership has done them before. Had no issues with being upsold, car washed, joyrides, etc... pretty straightforward.
