I think you're messing with us here.
I think you would have held out and not gotten a 2019 if you knew an LT5 Camaro was coming. lol if you're not messing with us then it's cruel to just drop a "yes" with no other insight. lol

It would be a cheap parts bin answer to the GT500, but GM is slow to respond. I don't see them announcing it as a 2020 model. More likely a halo sunset model for the last year of production. The Z/28 was 75k and flopped, the ZL1/1LE is 75k and sells a little better because it actually shames 200k cars. A LT5 ZL1 would be 85k+. That's absurd pricing for a Camaro.
Oooo, look, a 50k Camry that makes 450hp. <--- Equivalent reaction by outsiders to an 85k factory Camaro window sticker. Better off just getting an upfitter package from Callaway, Fireball or Lingenfelter for less money and more power. |

I agree with that. If they announce a new model at a price point that's $10K or more over the ZL1 1LE it's going to fail miserably.

I don’t know about that, I think it comes down to execution. If it’s a glorified ZLE I don’t think it’ll do so well. But if they could use the Alpha AWD and it was just straight up a straight line beast, 0-60 2.6, 1/4 10.5ish id be interested as hell. Doubt they’d ever do it though then it’d be faster then a ZR1 in a straight line.

Classic story of the Big 3. If they did it, they'd do it wrong and it wouldn't sell - and they know that.
There's literally a hundred reasons why GM wouldn't make an LT5 ZL1. I think Mike (Mlee) is just answering the title to the thread. Yes, it's possible. No, it's not likely. Yes, it's possible they release a 1200 HP hybrid Camaro that's AWD, carbon fiber monocoque, and outruns everything on the planet. No, it's not likely. |

Don’t be surprised if GM is boycotted at the NAIAS.
They aren’t very well liked at the moment up in these areas. And the NAIAS is just up the highway from the soon to be shut down Oshawa Plant. Hate to say it cause I’m a GM guy, but if they were going to release a car like this, they may want to do it at a different auto show. |

GM won’t do it as it would be a terrible financial loss to the corvette. Even with the C8 coming out an 85k price tag for the LT5 ZL1 would stick be the bargain. In a 10 speed I would have no doubt you could run low 10s. It’s fueling is already better than the current car and it would be ready for simple bolt ons and 9 second passes.
Would I buy it? Heck yes! Will it actually happen? Heck no! |

I think we will see something, whether an LT5 Camaro or un upgraded LT4. They best bring it, if they don't want to lose customers to Dodge and Ford. I know I'm anxiously awaiting the unveil of the GT500 myself and I'm sure many others are too. If the hellephant Charger rumor proves true, the need to bring it increases even more. If they aren't going to give us a new/updated car to compete, they need to at least release the drag package they teased us with. No one likes a tease that never delivers. If you're going to show the goods, you'd better be ready to give them up.

I've noticed that, but they need to change that game if you ask me. Maybe they will have a bit more freedom to do so with Vette moving to a more exotic configuration with all new engines. This would be the perfect time for them to get a little revenge on Ford from what went down when the 5th gen ZL1 came out. Fords GT500 was running 540 hp and GM came out with 580 to trump them, but Ford seemed to be waiting on that, and dropped the 662 hp bomb shortly after the ZL1 hit the streets.

all you guys that don't think a more expensive Camaro would be a tough sell are wrong in my opinion.
they are having a hard time selling at the current MSRPs. increasing the prices (by a substantial amount, say over $10K) regardless of how much more powerful the car is probably not going to do good things for the sales.

I would pay 10k more. I’ll need CCBS and A10 thrown in the ZL1 1LE though. Not 1 penny over 10,000.00. That’s my limit.
