Rear Bumper Repainted - Softer Paint?

I purchased my SS used and decided to have the rear bumper repainted because of a parking lot incident by the previous owner. This was in December of 2016. The car sat a month before I stored it, but in the spring when I pulled the cover off I noticed that the cover caused some small vertical micro scratches. I polished that car last spring, but in the mean time I am noticing lots more micro scratches and swirls on the rear bumper than elsewhere on the car. It seems that this paint is softer than the rest of the car, including the front soft nose. Did the body shop do something wrong or is this a normal thing?

The reason I am asking, I had a garage accident when a folding table fell against the soft nose. I am trying to figure out if I want to get the nose repainted, or just touch it up my self and live with the results.

Bill

That area gets pretty rough treatment. Not only does it get things flying up and hitting it, but other things you don't notice, like your pants legs brushing it when you put something in the trunk.

I don't know if your new paint is any less durable without really examining it, but my gut feeling is that it is normal.

Agree that some of it comes from getting things in and out of the truck and it happens even when I am trying to be careful. it just seems so delicate.

Can you tell if you saw it in person, like at CF8?

Yes we will put a paint thickness gauge on it and see what it says.

Is there a way to measure hardness?
