Harbor Freight Jack Stand Recall

Anyone having the Pittsburgh 3 or 6 ton Jack Stands take note.

I appreciate you posting this. I have both 3 and 6 ton stands, may have been from HF, and possibly those PN's. I'll check when I get home.

There is a potential, while under load and with a shift in weight, for the pawl to disengage from the extension lifting post, allowing the stand to drop suddenly. This condition could cause serious injury for people near or under a lifted vehicle, and/or damage to property.
I think if you were under the car then a serious injury would likely be the best possible outcome you could hope for.

Nice job posting this, it should be on the national news

I would never use anything from Harbor Freight that I was going to rely on for safety.

I hate to say it, but I’d be willing to bet that many of the “higher quality” items people buy are probably made in the same factories in China that the Harbor Freight stuff is. I haven’t bought anything from HF in a really long time, but that’s mostly because I do my best to buy American Made whenever I can. Unfortunately that’s not always possible for some items.

It would on be on the national news if (1) it was caused by Trump, or (2) it was caused by the virus.

Oh I buy bungee cords and zip ties, etc from there all the time. Its great for tools that you are going to use once. I even have some of these jack stands. But I never got under the car while using them.

Harbor Freight is the biggest scam POS scam store going. I just roasted them a new one on a stick welder that wouldn't even turn the current wheel. Like others said, single use items if that.

Thanks, awesome idea to post this here.

Like others have said, I would never trust my life to anything they sell. 95% of what I’ve bought there is in a landfill.

I like myself some pancakes in the mornin’, but I’d sure hate to become one because I was to damn cheap to spend money on quality Jack stands that could potentially keep me alive lol. HF would be the absolute last place I’d buy something like that, if ever. Just my 2 cents.

A buddy with a lawn care business told me that the Predator small engines they sell are pretty good.

Their orange versions were good quality, don't know about the newer ones though.

HF is hit or miss. I probably wouldn't buy anything electric. But their ratchets are pretty good, and lifetime replacement helps. I have their 3 ton hydrollic jack as well, I like the high lift angle. And yes, had their stands, returned today. But there are certain things that are complete trash and others I'd never buy.

I have a set of their 3 ton jack stands that look just like the ones in the recall but the model number is completely different than the recalled ones, so I guess the ones I have are ok? (I doubt they will ever get much use again now that I have a QuickJack BL-5000SLX...)
