HELP - Just got a 2022 ZL1 allocation....Do I take it?

A few week ago I made my first post...when I decided to jump into the ZL1 family. I went to my local dealer and put down a deposit to get on the 2023 allocation list. Dealer is fairly confident they will receive 2023 allocations, but there are no guarantees. With some 2022 orders being pushed to 2023, who knows what really will happen.

Then today I get a call. Someone who was on the list for a 2022 build got their allocation, but can not take it. Its mine if I want it, Build date is 9 May. Only restrictions to this allocation are no 1LE option, no PDR, and no Wild Cherry color.

I understand the whole "Bird in the hand" concept. Do I take the 2022, or wait to see if there are any changes / options for the 2023?

I have 48 hours or it moves to the next person. Help.

If the deal is right, you are ready to purchase, and you can get the options you want, scoop it up while you can. I'd have already had a deposit on it and brought the salesman a case of beer for offering it up for a whole 48 hours, lol.

I passed on an a 2022 allocation. Wild Cherry was gone so I wanted to see the new colors. Radiant Red 2023 is what I will order in a couple weeks.

If you will be satisfied with the options/packages/color then take it. If it is not what you truly want then I would wait and place a '23 order. After 5 months of waiting I was still at 1100. People would post saying why don't you get it without these packages or take this color. I knew if I did that I wouldn't be happy. I started searching the Chevy inventory and found my exact build and color at a dealership in Michigan (I'm in NY). The only option it did not have was the satin black appearance package and I could definitely live without it. I bought it and had it shipped to my house and I couldn't be happier. If I would have settled for anything else I would not have been happy.

If you can live without the 1LE package then definitely take it and don’t look back. I had a similar situation recently and PDR had to be removed to receive the allocation. It was a no brained for me and now my black ZLE is due to be produced the week of 5/16. If you must have the 1LE package then don’t take the allocation because you’ll regret it down the road.

I would take it, you'll have the full summer to enjoy it....unless you had your heart set on 1LE.

I took the 22 allocation my dealership told me about, the guy that had it dropped out and I took it, changed the color and dropped the sunroof.
The 1LE option was not for me as I cannot drive good enough to make it useful. I have read a few articles where the ZLE option is slower in the 0-60 runs as the kit slows the car down, I also am the guy that will never lower any car ever, had about 4-5 Vettes and always looked for ways to raise them. I like to drive my cars and hate low cars rubbing speed bumps etc. Only changes to 23 is a few color changes. Also why take a chance of waiting the rest of the year to get a car?

Thanks to all. As expected, kind of a mixed bag of opinions. And that's good. I love the 1LE look, but never thought about actually purchasing as I will probably not be tracking the car. So, no loss there. Same for the PDR (no loss). Dealer is giving me MSRP...right off the GM website ($66K). I was thinking it would be cool to have the last year of the ICE Camaro. But with GM not providing any substantial info (2023, 2024, 2025....), I would hate to lose out on the opportunity. Looks like check writing time.

Anyone have the Battery Protection Package? Is it just a Battery Tender, or does it actually provide a charging port (or other special connection) on the car....vs just alligator clamps?

IMO if they have a color you like, take it. Also, don’t just buy the 1LE for looks. It’s a track car , if you don’t plan on tracking it the majority of time it’s a waste of money as well as sacrificing ride quality on the street.

I was on the Chevy website last night and there's dealers that have 22 Zl1's and ZLE's with all the options and in various colors. You might have to drive a bit though.
