New NHRA rule change on roll cages
I saw this and am hoping it is true! I guess it was announced at PRI.
“NHRA rule amendment to 2022 rule book announced at the PRI trade show in Indianapolis. FOR 2014 AND NEWER CARS. NO ROLL CAGE REQUIRED UNTIL: SUB 9.00 or EXCEEDING 150mph” Can anyone confirm?

Thats what I was told as well! Havent seen it in writing though... crazy to think a car running 9.1's doesnt need a roll bar! I may end up breaking the 150MPH mark in the low 9's! Need a prachute when your faster than 150 as well.

This is straight from the local NHRA technical representative:
IHRA requirements may be different but here is what the 2002 NHRA rule book has to say: “2008 OEM model-year and newer production cars running slower than 9.99 (*6.39) and 135 mph do not have to meet the requirements and specifications for the Summit Racing Series except for the following: Convertibles and T-tops must meet Summit Racing Series roll-bar and roll-cage requirements”.

From The IHRA rulebook;
-2008 OEM model year and newer production cars running 9.00 (1/4 mile) and 6.00 (1/8 mile) and slower, or up to 145 mph do not have to meet the requirements and specifications for the Summit ET safety rules except for the following: Convertibles and T-top entries must meet the minimum specifications listed in the ET bracket section for roll bar and roll cage requirement.

It's real Josh. Some of my friends were at pri and heard the news , but the car history be basically stock . So in my case with lt4 blower it looks stock . Supposedly their going to enforce the stock part , we'll see I'm in the same boat . I went 9.80 and was told I was done.

So I was told that this was a rumor! Still the same rules, under 10.0 you need a roll bar and a license.
