Not a huge surprise I don't think this will trickle down to the camaro in the next generation outside of the bigger FI levels though. But I could be wrong.

being in a cyber related roll myself, and being aware of govt reqs for a business to protect data streams, and with on-star being a permanent fixture, I am pretty sure you can bank on it sooner rather than later.

where there's money to be made there will be a need to proivde PCI level protections, think - ugh- don't think, in car app purchases.
by a boost right from your on screen. ... don't think for a second this isn't coming.

not so much....

https://www.wired.com/2016/06/teslas...app-purchases/

"Car company's name here" key advantage is its ability to enable those crippled features with a few clicks on a keyboard at virtually no cost and charge the customer thousands of dollars for them.

I would call this more "it is rumored" than "it is official".

I am pretty sure locking the cars down is only going to get worse. Its coming down from the epa. This is their new angle to combat circumventing the emissions on stuff. The diesels got it started, then they began to look at gas stuff. Rather than trying to chase individual vendors, they put the burden on the manufacturers to make them uncrackable. Remember a few years ago there was a bill to ban modding cars at the federal level? Then all of a sudden it went silent? This is what is happening.

I recall the demon was supposed to be uncrackable.
