ITB's

I've always been interested in ITB setups. Within the context of the Gen V LT1, why have there been no entries into that field? For the most part, fuel rails and injector ports are not needed to design this intake as it would normally, since this is a direct injection motor. I know that many places prefer to swap to Speed Density instead of Mass Air Flow but, I still think it's a viable option.

I would think it's possible to have an ITB setup, where each port has its own small filter, in a shared plenum for each bank, feeding into an inlet that is essentially the size of the stock MAF tube. The hardest part always seems to be the throttle linkage and tuning. Again, with all of the room you'd save from fuel rails and injectors, I would think that the throttle linkage wouldn't be as much of an issue. Also, I see no inherent reason why composite components couldn't be used instead of cast or carbon fiber. Stuff like that would just drive up costs, in my opinion.

Pic for reference on an LS, in order of concept I was speaking of.

Someone will come up with a setup for the LT-1. I suggest you to SEMA if you can, they will be displayed there if available.

Great thread. ITBs have always piqued my interest. Hopefully it gets some traction. I recently converted a Coyote motor over to ITBs. I sourced the ITB setup from a company over in Australia. What is cool about this setup is it used the OEM stock throttle body of the Coyote motor modified and machined to serve as a servo motor to control the ITB linkage. I didn't want to use mechanical linkage since the drive-by-wire tunability is so flexible. You can tune in a more progressive throttle profile which is beneficial for ITB setups.

I think BMW E46s did this by using drive-by-wire.

Nice. That's a pretty trick throttle setup. Again, with entries such as this, I hope that someone develops one for this platform.
