Competitive Mode not engaging?

I have a 2017 Camaro SS with 1,000 miles on it, and I have tried to access competitive mode. I know you have to be in sport or track and press the traction control button twice quickly. I do this, and the only thing that comes up on the screen is the traction control off light, but it has never shown the indication that competitive mode is engaged in the center display.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Press the button twice not quite as quickly. Just twice in 1 or 2 seconds.
