Great job so far you should be able to get some tens. If not stock with a DR for certain.

I know the TM holds these cars back. Even on my lowly SS I picked up around .2-.3 from tuning the trans and removing TM.

Good luck !
Man I cant wait until I get rid of TM I've been getting a lot of lazy shifts and power reduction with the nitrous and converter. If I lose .2 tenths o would be ecstatic.

The stock SS list is impressive. Average of 30 A8s is 12.17 sec. Average of 21 M6s is 12.49 sec.

Wow that's bad I'm over twice the average age and in the top 5 or 6 of the quickest on the list at 10.78@129. Not bad for an old muthatrucker.

Well remember the lists are only top 30. There have been some auto cars that have been pushed off as that list is bigger. Only 21 manuals so far, so nobody has been bumped yet. And the manual list could be even better. Part of the problem is that 13.17 second slip that IMO shouldn't even have been posted lol...I have a 12.22 for a manual, but it is on the LT1 1LE list. So technically, add a 12.22 and remove the 13.17 lol...

One thing I have noticed is that as more and more manual drivers are getting used to driving their cars, the ET's are dropping for the manual cars. Multiple 12.2 and 12.1 times now, and I'm sure a 12.0 will happen soon.

My 2SS A8 ran a tenth quicker than my current SS 1LE at the drag strip, but my SS 1LE is five tenths quicker (a lot on that track) at my local autocross, so that was well worth the swap.

7 of the top 10 auto runs were in negative DA with just 1 of those 10 being over 300' DA. Only one of M6 passes was in -DA that i'm aware of. If you take that into consideration, you could safely say that the M6's are just as fast as the auto's given the same conditions.

Hmm, I disagree there. I do think with the right driver they may be somewhat comparable with the auto having the edge, but as far as consistent performance the auto is king IMO.

One way we will know if you jump into a stock A8 and your stock M6 back to back, 5 runs each at a track rental averaging out the runs with cool downs.

Once you start bolting on stuff it's not even close so far.

Hey my M6 with the same options is 3675. Washer fluid drained? Mine full weight was at a 1/4 tank. With LTs, did I save a couple of pounds there?

Autos are definitely more consistent no question there. And they will pick up more with a tune than an M6 would. But both being stock with good drivers, i don't think there is anything on the fast lists that proves one is faster than the other. If you take all the runs from both lists where the DA was a more realistic 500' or higher, the top 5 would be A8@12.10, M6@12.10, A8@12.18, M6@12.19, A8@12.19. My opinion may be slightly bias though

Mine weighed 3620 without me in it and about a 1/4 tank as well.

Valid points, as DA does make a difference. Some of those top autos were run in like -1500 DA or better if I recall. I don't know if any of the top manual times were in negative DA at all. My 12.22 if I recall was in like 750 DA. If I had -1500 that night, I would have possibly seen a 12.0x...

Get a good driver to drive your car and you will see what it does. No offense, but your car should be quicker with your mods, and the track you run at. I think you know this though...

Dropping the 13.17 and replacing it with a 12.22 gives a M6 average of 12.44 sec.

I wasn't trying to start a manual vs auto rift. I just thought that overall, the numbers are pretty good... and the manual is not slouch.

The A8s are running about a 10th better than Chevy advertised and could see the same for the M6 giving 12.37 sec. That seems to fit with a good driver since even the hero runs are 2ths apart.
