Project Update

Time's going on and actual 8 weeks of hibernation time is left.

The conversion to a street legal version for Germany is almost done.

First of all I want to give you an impression of the Z/28 home.

I've got a new 4 post stand because the Z/28 has to share his home with my daily driver.

Elektric Adapter Board

My first aproach to divide the combined brake-turn-signal with the CURT module was unfortunately not targeting

The module is unable for a correct hazard flasher.

The logic behind the module is:

- signal on one side -> turn signal
- signal on both sides -> brake signal

So the hazard flasher is resulting in flashing brake lights.

Unfortunately I've found the info about this behaviour too late on the
CURT FAQ's and on the German Camaro forum.

So it was time for a rework of the board...

Reworked Board

My target with the CURT module was to avoid a long routing of cables.

But for the rework I've got to do it.

The turn signal I've took from the front.
I've used some switchback LED's for the DRL.
In parallel I've connected the front side markers and the rear turn signal.
In Germany the side markers are not street legal.

With the parallel connected turn signals to the front DRL I need no resistor
to avoid the error message because of the missing bulb.

In the rear I've cut the original brake-turn-signal
and used a 2Ohm 50W resistor to avoid the error message.

The signal for the brake light I've took from the 3rd brake light in the trunk lid
and draw the voltage over a relay directly from the battery.
The board is placed next the battery.

The second relay on the board is for the rear fog lights.

So from lights point of view the Z/28 is now street legal

In my next post I'll show you what beautiful location I've found for some additional switches.

You'll be suprised...

Additional Switches

For homologation rear fog lamps are required.

But where to find a lovely place for the additional switches

After some evenings I've found this solution:
- 3 aluminium tubes
- 3 simple switches
- plottered labels for the switches

I'm happy with the appearance

Not driven yet.
My season license plate will be from april till october.
So 8 weeks hibernation time left.

Because of the poor view when parking in small slots
I've installed a front and rear cam in combination with a PAC dash kit
and a KENWOOD DMX7017DABS.
The KENWOOD has only one video input.
With the camera button I can switch between front and rear cam.

Lol, I used to live in Austria so it would work for me.

Which tracks are you planning to visit with your Z/28?
