If it’s exactly what you wanted why not go for it? You seem to be in a good position to negotiate a price since the car is already there.

Guys I agree with everyone that it sounds liked a troll thread.

But I really like my I4. I went for it because it was what I could afford. Sorry for the hard V8 guys, but couldn't afford the V8.

On one hand I agree it's exactly what you wanted, and you should be in a good position to negotiate. On the other hand this whole situation is just friggin weird, and I'd be nervous about buying it lol. Like I mentioned in your other thread about this, I've never heard of such a scenario in my entire life. The Twilight Zone post seems spot on here lol

Hey do me a favor QC...

Look at your door sticker and tell me what your car weighs.

Thanks!

Not sure why you need two threads, but what’s the problem? if that’s the car you would order and it there 5 months later buy the car and start driving a Camaro.
The salesperson just had notes on every yahoo that kicked tires and cold called them since you obviously gave him your number he didn’t guess it.

3320 lbs - that sounds about right. Interesting to see the weight differences of these cars.

Just out of curiosity, although you didn't sign your soul over, how did the dealer in question obtain these exact order specifications? Was it a phone conversation and they wrote it down? Was it an email or chat between you?

My stock CLA45 with a turbo 2.0L 4-cylinder walked S197 5.0 Mustangs. Beat a 420 whp one by a fender from 35-100 mph, which is a low speed roll but it wasn't on a highway. I have done highway pulls against them and still been ahead up to about 115 mph. I don't have any friends with fifth gen Camaros but I'm sure it could have beat those too, up until about 120 mph when they'd probably start to come by me. The new Koenigsegg Gemera has a 2.0L 3-cylinder that makes 600 bhp. In terms of horsepower per liter displacement, muscle cars are pretty bad from the factory, especially the 6.4L hemis. And yes, V6 drivers did talk down on my I4, until I put a bus length on them in a race, that usually shut them up.

The OP says the SS/ZL1 sales carry the Camaro, but I don't think that's true. I thought that the base model Camaros (and Mustangs) historically always outsold the V-8 cars? Can anyone point to sales figures?

So yes, a lot of buyers prefer the 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder cars to the V-8. I was watching the prime time Price is Right show this week on ABC television, and the grand prize was a black Camaro 2.0 6-speed manual. The winner was so excited to win a Camaro he was literally jumping all over the place! He kept saying "A Camaro! I can't believe it!" I was surprised they gave away one with stick shift - what if he can't drive it?

Color me surprised and doubtful, I feel there must be more to this story. Some kind of gross misunderstanding or miscommunication at the very least.

The "door sticker" has nothing to do with what the car weighs. It has to do with the total weight it is certified to carry. Those are two very, very different things. A typical 2.0T coupe manual weighs around 3300lb, and 3LT and/or automatic options might add a few more pounds.
