I didn't buy a Mustang because:

New Escort developed piston slap on drive home from dealer after just purchasing it - engine replaced.

New Explorer developed noise when several weeks old - found that transfer case was dry from the factory - transfer case replaced.

New Contour 5 speed manual refused to shift into 2nd during the cold winter months. Dealer couldn't fix - traded it in.

New 93 Mustang 5.0 automatic transmission failed during first month of ownership - transmission replaced.

I just don't trust Fords - what more can I say??

I had a Contour with an auto have a TSS go out at 15K on the way back home on our honeymoon in PA. Had to drive it back with no speedo & no OD. Had to manually shift it at redline WOT to get it to shift.

I’m not even going to get into all the super duties we’ve had over the years, but 6.0L... , our 18 550 has been pretty decent, the 17 650 on the other hand is going in again next week for a converter & something wrong with the turbo/ control system.

Both cars have 93octane tunes on them within 4 months of ownership and it really wakes up the Camaro powerplant and it revs cleaner than factory.
if i drove like that the car would

a) always be 15 mph over the speed limit
b) hanging out in gear so i wouldn't be going 15 mph over the speed limit

to be fair it's an fbo car on ethanol. it's a bit snappier now than it was stock. roll into the throttle (50% or so) in the first 4 gears and its easing itself along around 100 mph. seems fairly effortless.

I see. Yeah, there are more Mustangs out there.

I like owning cars that are not all that common, however, and that's another front where Camaro ticks the box.

The mechanical gauge on the Mustang isn't very good. The full digital one looks good and I wish Camaro has it.

Sent from toaster or something

I'm a numbers guy. The Camaro LT1 is less expensive and has a better power-to-weight ratio. I'm not brand loyal, but I've owned more Fords than any other brand. The value-for-money on the LT1 is unbeatable.

Both my 2006 and 2013 C6's were rock solid. My 2019 C7 was junk.

I like the looks of the wide body cars. That said the ZL1 us still my favorite though. I’ve driven my brothers Redeye and ZL1 a lot and for around town the Hellcat is pretty damn fun to drive.

Ok, since we’re bashing Ford. As a kids, I started developing a phobia if steep grades, due to the fact that all of my dads fords overheated going up hill. We’d have to pull off the side of the road and let them cool off. It sucked.

I didn't purchase a Ford Mustang because:

1. I prefer GM vehicles to Ford vehicles.

2. The exterior fit and finish of the Mustang is mediocre.

3. I prefer the interior and exterior styling of the Camaro, even though it results in a less practical interior and limited outward visibility, respectively.

4. The Camaro is built upon a thoroughly modern chassis that elevates its handling ability, especially when optioned with the 1LE handling package, to that of a genuine and proper sports car.

5. I like that Camaros aren't nearly as popular as Mustangs. Moreover, I perceive Mustangs appealing more to young persons, while SS/ZL1variants of the Camaro appeal more to middle-aged and above persons.
