Anyone that says the GT350 sounds better here is going to get the wrath of the fanboys. I see that one coming.

Yeah, I prefer the ZL1, but come on, those both sound amazing. I'm ecstatic we have both.

Shelby, and i dont even think its close. They both sound great, but every american v8 for the last 50 years has had a similar sound to the Zl1.

The gt350 exhaust note is special.

I'm not a huge fan of the GT350's exhaust. They tried to get the Voodoo to sound like a CPC V8 and it doesn't work all that well to me. Mustangs generally have a good rumble that I like but I have to go with the ZL1.

Well I'm no mustang expert but I believe the last car in that video is an automatic GT.

I saw and heard a GT350 for the first time on the street. I have to say, I didn't like the exhaust sound at all. Even my son who is a big Mustang fan didn't like it. Car looks great, but we were disappointed in the sound. Sounded nothing like the FPC's from the original GT40's which sounded fantastic. A 5.0 with exhaust sounds better imo.

Not really a fair comparison because all we have in that video is a few seconds of the ZL1 idling with a little gas applied, where-as there's a lot more footage of the GT350 both revving and driving by.

Despite this, I hate to say it, but from this video and other clips I've heard, the GT350 has a way more aggressive exhaust. The ZL1 sounds a little raspy where-as the GT350 has a lower tone at idle but can hit a higher pitch and crackle with some gas. It sounds like it has a better range of sounds.

Neither car has the best sounding exhaust compared to the aftermarket, but as the OP phrased his question, between both these cars I'd say it goes to the GT350 pretty handily.

when you start either up and it puts a smile on your face...who f'ing cares.

BTW, quality of recording equipment is sort of a really HUGE deal here - so, what you can get from this one video is pretty much useless.

If you guys wait I'll post up a video of my exhaust sound on my new Volt I picked up this weekend.
