Bridgestone RE980AS

Well with the memorial day weekend sale I picked up a set of RE980AS's in 295/305 fitment for my 19 ZL1.

I saw great reviews on rennlist from GT3 owners as well as a couple guys on here.

How have they been long-term for those running them?

I ran them last winter (November - April). No driving in snow, but a good bit of rain, and we have low temps down into the teens here in the AZ mountains through the coldest months.

IMHO, they're a decent tire that will get you through the winter and still be able to drive the car in freezing temps. They handle well enough to go faster down a mountain road than is prudent on the street, but they definitely have much lower limits than summer tires, both cornering and in a straight line.

I ran mine at 34 psi cold, as they have a softer sidewall than the stock GYs and felt pretty squirmy at 32 psi.

I'm not exited about them, but they're the only real option right now in stock(ish) sizes if you want to drive the car in freezing temps, unless you want to spend $$$ on Sottozero 3s.

I ran them all winter here in TN, and left them on so far during the summer, and all is well. If I end up on track for any reason I'll swap back to the stock wheels/tires/brake pads vs. my "touring" setup with Z/28 replicas/RE980's/Powerstop pads.

How have they done in moments of putting down power?

She’ll wag ass under WOT, but the electronics sort it out just fine.

I was pretty impressed with SimpleTire... I got the whole set shipped for $840 and had them delivered within a week.
